Now playing in select theaters across the country, digital and on demand, is the action thriller, Summit Fever.
Summit Fever stars Freddie Thorp, Michel Biel, Mathilde Warnier, Hannah New, Théo Christine, and Ryan Phillippe.
The film was written and directed by Julian Gilbey.
I admire people who are not afraid to do things that most people would consider insane. I always tell my husband that if there is such thing as reincarnation, I hope to come back as an adventurer, who travels the world and does amazing things. I want to ski, sky dive, mountain climbing, and so many other adventurous things. As it is, I’m afraid to ski (I’m afraid I’ll break my leg).
Ryan Phillippe and Freddie Thorp star in the adrenaline-fueled thrill-ride where an ambitious mountain expedition becomes a breathtaking struggle for survival. A daring dream to scale the world’s most challenging trio of mountains soon turns into a terrifying nightmare for a group of friends when a deadly storm traps the climbers near the summit and cuts off all hope of rescue. With the odds stacked against them, the friends are forced to trust each other to save themselves by any means necessary.
WOW. Just wow.
First and foremost, the scenery is breath taking. Even if I can’t ski, I would love to see those mountains in person. They are beautiful.
I cannot image mountain climbing the way the people do in this film. There is very little to protect them from falling to their death. At one point in the film (the ending) the main character (played by Freddie Thorpe) is climbing the steep side of a mountain (a cliff) all by himself with NO ropes or special equipment.
NO WAY! NEVER! Oh my goodness! I could never do that, but secretly I wish I could.
As far as the movie is concerned, I really enjoyed this film. The storyline was terrific and it kept my attention every step of the way.
The film is almost two hours long (115 minutes to be exact). Sometimes long movies are just TOO long, and I often feel like a lot could have been omitted in order to trim off some of the time. Not this film. I felt like every part was necessary to the entire story, and to be honest, the film did not feel like it lasted that long.
The acting was spot on. The actors are 100% believable. You feel like they are genuine and not just actors. The actors are very likeable too (for the most part) and you get invested in their lives and their safety climbing the trio of mountains.
I think the cinematography is also amazing in this film. The angles, the close-ups, the distance shots… everything combined truly brings this film to life. You feel like you are on the mountain along side the climbers.
I review a lot of film. Some are just “okay,” and I may or may not watch them again if I happened across them on a digital service (like Amazon Prime, Hulu…). This film I will DEFINETLY watch again if/when I come across it on another digital platform. It’s an amazing film.
Look for Summit Fever at a theater near you, digital and On Demand.
