Available today (March 3, 2015) is the latest addition to the ever growing Disney Fairies movies called Tinker Bell and the Legend of the Neverbeast.
I am a huge fan of the Tinker Bell and Disney Fairies movies. I’ll admit that at first I wasn’t keen on the idea of trying to re-do the iconic Tinker Bell and have her go off and make her own films. That all changed when I saw the film Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue. I fell in love with no only the “new” Tinker Bell, but also the other fairies. Since then I have seen every film and have added them all to my family’s home movie collection.
In this new film, Tinker Bell and the Legend of the Neverbeast, the fairies witness of rare comment fly over Pixie Hollow – one that is only seen once every 1,000 years. Even so the fairies go on with their lives as if nothing has happened.
Tinker Bell happens upon Fawn and her newest “rescue” – a baby hawk. Hawks eat fairies, so Fawn harboring a baby hawk could be potentially dangerous to the fairies and other woodland creatures. Fawn is aware of this but she has a big heart and a genuine love for all creatures and simply wanted to help the baby hawk who had an injured wing.
Queen Clarion and the guardian scout fairy Nyx tell Fawn that she cannot rescue every creature she finds. She needs to take the safety of the fairies in mind.
One day Fawn is in the forest when she hears a strange moaning sound. Her curiosity got the best of her and she ventures into a dark and creepy part of the forest to find it’s source. Deep inside a hollow tree trunk, far under the ground, Fawn sees what is creating that moaning sound – a giant, hairy beast with a rat-like tail. She also sees that he has a thorn stuck in it’s paw. Being a huge animal lover Fawn sets out to try and remove the thorn from his paw.
For days Fawn follows the creature around trying to remove the thorn. She observes the beast creating unusual formations with giant rocks.
After Fawn successfully removes the thorn she quickly becomes friends with the beast. Even though he might be scary looking to most, Fawn doesn’t see him as menacing.
Fawn wants to introduce her new friend to her fairy friends, but she is reluctant. Especially when she finds out that her new friend, which she named Gruff, might be the legendary Neverland Beast- a mysterious creature that can destroy Pixie Hollow.
Can it be true? Is Gruff the Neverland Beast? Is Fawn’s new found friend really an evil creature? To find out you need to pick up a copy of Disney’s Tinker Bell and the Legend of the Neverland Beast, available today where ever most movies are sold.
Tinker Bell and the Legend of the Neverland Beast stars the voice talents of;
- Ginnifer Goodwin (TV’s “Once Upon a Time”) as Fawn, the Animal Fairy.
- Rosario Dawson (“Sin City: A Dame to Kill For”) as Nyx, a Scout Fairy.
- Mae Whitman (TV’s “Parenthood”) as Tinker Bell.
- Raven-Symoné (TV’s “State of Georgia”) as Iridessa.
- Megan Hilty (TV’s “Smash”) as Rosetta.
- Lucy Liu (TV’s “Elementary”) as Silvermist.
- Pamela Adlon (TV’s “Californication”) as Vidia.
- Academy Award®-Winner Anjelica Huston (TV’s “Smash”) as Queen Clarion.
I love the movie. It’s a bit different than other Tinker Bell movies because Gruff can be a bit scary looking, especially later on in the film. However it’s not a scary story. Little kids can watch this with no problem.
I fell in love with Gruff. As odd looking as he is with his rat-like tail it’s pretty cute. I’m thrilled that the Disney Store has a plush Gruff. I need to get one.
I should forewarn you that you might need some tissues. The ending can be a bit sad. I know my eyes welled up with tears.
This is a great film that both young and old, girls and boys, will enjoy. It’s the perfect addition to any family movie collection.
There are plenty of bonus features available for this film. My favorite is Jeff Corwin’s Guide to Real-World NeverBeasts. There are some incredibly weird looking creatures roaming out planet – REAL ones too! Like a fish with big red lips and a funky looking lemur-like creature with a super long finger (to help them get bugs out of trees).

The stuffed animal neverbeast looks pretty cool, reminds me of the neverending story flying thing. I’m sure the tinkerbell fan in the house will love it.
