The school district that I work in just ended the 2022-2023 school year not even a month ago. Other school districts across the country will be gearing up for the 2023-2024 school year in a matter of weeks. I cannot imagine going back to school during the summer months. That seems so odd to me, but it’s common for some school districts.
Going back to school can be a scary time for children. It can be even scarier if it’s your very first day of school ever (preschool). I honestly don’t remember when I was in lower elementary school, but I do recall how my kids were when the first day of school came around. My daughter was never nervous. She was always excited and hopeful for the new year. My son on the other hand dreaded the first day of school. He would literally lose sleep over it.
Children never know what to expect when school starts… will they make friends on the bus, will they make friends in class, will they have a nice teacher, will they be able to do the school work… there are just so many questions that have yet to be answered.
The My First Day book series has three adorable books ideal for children who will be starting their first day of preschool, kindergarten, or first grade. These charming books will help to reassure your child that they are ready for their next step, and that their grown-ups are cheering them on too!
I had the opportunity to check out these books for myself.
First and foremost, these books are adorable! Just look at the characters featured on the covers. There are even more precious illustrations inside to go along with the stories.
The illustrations are bright and cheery, ideal for little ones who are nervous about their first day of school. The illustrations and vivid colors give off a “happy” vibe, if that makes any sense?
Here are just a few random examples.
The stories are all engaging and are sure to get your little one excited about their first day of school.
I found the books to be appropriate for what most children would expect on their first day of preschool compared to the first day of first grade. The children do different things, so it’s expected that the stories would align with that.
In the back of these books are places where you’ll find a keepsake and a downloadable personalized photo prop.
These books would be ideal to pass on to other siblings too.
These are the perfect “pre-school” books to read together, that way you and your child can discuss anything in the stories that might make them worry, of they might have questions about.
These books are available at retail locations, as well as Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
You can also learn more about these and other books, as well as make a purchase, from the publisher SourceBooks.com. You can also check them out on social media. Their links are found on the bottom of their website.
