Are you a fan of Disney? I honestly have never met a person who didn’t love a specific Disney character or movie – even grown men! I think there is something relatable to the characters and movies that drawn people to them.
To give you an example, I enjoy all the Winnie the Pooh characters. I can see myself in a few of them. For example, I can be curious and absent minded like Pooh (plus I’m always hungry – ha ha). I can be shy and anxious like Piglet and I can be lazy and sleepy like Eeyore.
My husband and I have been known to randomly watch Disney movies, even if our “kids” are in their early to mid 20’s. We’re just big kids at heart.
If you are an adult Disney fan, you might be interested in learning about two new books based on popular Disney animated classics. These books include the full script, complete lyrics, an extensive collection of behind-the-scenes facts about the production, animation, and historical and cultural frameworks of the films.
Currently there are two titles available – The Lion King and The Little Mermaid.

I was sent both of these books to review.
WOW. Simply WOW! I never expected that these books would be jam packed with great information about the films, unseen images, concept art and so much more.
I love how the story is written exactly like a script, so you know which character is “speaking.” It even goes into detail about the action going on in the scene. Here are a couple of examples (one from each book).
I wish we had books like this when I was younger. My cousins and I used to love to put on plays for family, friends and neighbors. We would just recite lines and do actions from movies we saw, based off our memories of the films. We usually did the film Grease because we saw it enough times to remember the storyline, what was said and the songs. If we had books like this, WOW, we could have put on so many different plays.
I love the concept art. It’s fun to see how the animators first envisioned how the characters and scenes would look compared to the final look.
Being able to read the complete lyrics was great too. It’s funny how a couple of songs I had some of the lines wrong – even though I have been singing the songs for many years. It’s funny how after all the times of listening and singing to the songs how I didn’t know I was wrong.
The above is not the full lyrics (I took the wrong photo). But you get the idea.
The behind the scenes information was also really fun to read. It gives you a better appreciation of a film when you know all the details that went on during the making of a film, and the reason behind different characters and situations.
I have included information about these books towards the top of this post (publisher, ISBN number…) so that you can find these books if you are interested in them. I did find both books on Amazon and Barnes & Nobles.
What do you think about these books?
What Disney movie would you like to see one of these “adult books” made for?
Feel free to comment and share your thoughts. I always love to hear from readers.
