I’m not always a fan of 3D. Some movies don’t need to be seen in 3D in order to appreciate them. On the other hand there are some movies that were meant to be seen in 3D. Such is the case with Finding Nemo.
If you have not seen Finding Nemo before it’s a must-see movie. It’s one of my family’s favorite Disney * Pixar films. It was released in theaters in 2003. We didn’t see it in the theater, but we did buy the movie when it was available. Since then we’ve watched the movie more times then we can count.
Now the movie is available on Blu-ray and a special combo pack with 3D (if you have a television that supports that type of media – I wish I did!).
Finding Nemo is the story of a clown fish name Marlin and his wife Coral. They are about to be the proud parents of dozens of baby clown fish, that is until tragedy strikes. Coral is killed by a Barracuda, along with all of the eggs – all except one.
Devastated by his loss, Marlin swears to do whatever it takes to protect the remaining egg, which later hatches to be his son Nemo. Marlin takes his protectiveness a bit too far. He’s OVERLY protective of Nemo, not only because he’s all that he has, but also because Nemo has a deformed fin. Marlin feels that Nemo’s fin puts him at a disadvantage and he’s unable to do the things that other fish can do because of it.
Nemo doesn’t like that his father is overly protective of him and one day he decides to be defiant. As a result Nemo is captured by a human who races away with Nemo in a speed boat. Marlin tries to keep up with the boat but ends up losing it’s trail.
While searching for the boat Marlin meets up with a goofy, yet lovable fish name Dori. Dori offers to help Marlin find his son. Together the pair encounter sharks, evil creatures from the deep, sea turtles and a whale – all in effort to get to Sydney, Australia where Marlin knows he can find his son.
Will Marlin ever find Nemo? To find out you need to pick up a copy of Finding Nemo which is now available on Blu-ray, DVD, 3D and other digital formats. Look for Finding Nemo where ever movies are sold.
As I mentioned earlier we LOVE this movie. It has a great story line that not only touches upon the father/son relationship, but also believing in each other. It also deals with friendship, especially with an unlikely duo like Marlin and Dori.
Finding Nemo is also hysterically funny! My family often quotes lines from the film, whether it’s something goofy that Dori said (she’s the funniest!) to silly quotes like “Bubbles!”, “Find a Happy Place” and “Mount Wannahockaloogie”. If you have seen the movie I’m sure you know what lines I’m referring to. 🙂
