I am a HUGE animal lover. I’m talking REALLY, REALLY huge. I love animals in all shapes and sizes. If we had money I’d have a farm. I can’t visit the animal shelter without wanting to take all the animals home with me. We have a dog and four cats, that should tell you something about my love of animals. At one point in my life (when I was growing up) we had 7 hamsters, 3 dogs, 2 cats, 2 birds, a tank full of fish and a horse.
Some of my readers might be familiar with the company Orvis. Orvis specializes in high-end fishing, hunting and sporting goods plus clothing and pet products.
Orvis and Skyhorse Publishing are releasing a calendar for 2011 that features some of the most beautiful and adorable dogs I have ever seen. All of the photos in the calendar are photo contest winners.
Each month features full- color images of adorable, happy dogs swimming, lounging, and jumping together in the great outdoors.
In April there are two dogs who apparently love to play in the mud. One dog especially is caked with mud from head to toe!
May features a super cute black lab puppy. Awww…!
August has a pair of Yellow Lab puppies exploring a garden (and covered with mud!).
The last page features what I can assume is a mother and child (Golden Labs). Its such a sweet picture.
One of the things I really like about this calendar (aside from the darling photographs) are the quotes. Each month features a famous quote, most of which pertain to dogs. For example, in March the quote is…
“The dog was created especially for children. He is the God of frolic” – Henry Ward Beecher.
In May the quote reads “There is honor in being a dog” – Aristotle.
The calendar its self features bold numbers and ample space for your to write in appointments or special occasions. It is also marked with Federal holidays and each month shows the first week or two of the following month just in case you need to give yourself extra reminders of a special date not to forget.
Orvis has collaborated with the Morris Animal Foundation to help fight canine cancer. Dylan, the golden retriever on the front cover, is a cancer survivor himself, and an important inspiration to the Canine Cancer Campaign. The generous donations they’ve received have helped fund research and treatments aimed at curing canine cancer within the next 10 to 20 years. That is amazing!
Warm your heart all year long with this gorgeous hanging calendar, knowing that the proceeds are benefiting a company that is working hard to help the animals you love.
