I am sure that many people can relate to this. It’s late at night, you can’t sleep so you turn on the TV and flick through the channels looking for something to watch. You land on a channel where someone is trying to sell you a nifty gadget that will help make your life easier or better. You then find yourself immersed into the show and suddenly you are reaching for the phone to call and place an order.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Infomercials. 🙂
Years ago I was fascinated by the Ronco Pasta Maker. I wanted one SO BAD. I would probably never use it, but it looked pretty cool. I love how they were able to make different pastas and different pasta flavors.
Some products you see on TV are really “out there”. Others are actually very good. Take for example the PedEgg. I received one to review years ago. I had seen them on TV and thought it was kind of a gross idea, that is until I tried a PedEgg out for myself. I LOVE IT! I have been using a PedEgg for years now. In fact I recently bought a new one with a cool Zebra design on it.
Another As Seen on TV product that we purchased and loved was the Swivel Sweeper. That was a great little sweeper. We had that for a few years too but eventually the battery wouldn’t recharge anymore and we purchased another sweeper.
We have an As Seen on TV store at our mall. I love walking in there to check out the latest and greatest gadgets.
I had the opportunity to try out two new products from As Seen on TV. One is the Turbo Roaster and the other is the Stone Wave Microwave Cooker.
Turbo Roaster
Turbo Roaster Seen On TV cooks moist, tender and juicy meats in half the time. The Turbo Roaster delivers heat and moisture to the inside. Easy to use just add water, place tube in the turkey or chicken and roast. Meat comes out tender and juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Great for parties and holidays. Includes Turbo Roaster, FREE recipe guide.
The idea of Turbo Roaster is good. It helps to cook the turkey or chicken on the inside, as well as the outside.
I tried this with a roaster chicken. I opened the unit, added in the water, inserted it into the chicken and put it in the oven.
Getting it in the oven was a two person job. My husband held the pan and I held the Turbo Roaster.
I had a hard time keeping the Turbo Roaster straight. In order to get the “tube” to stay inside the chicken I had to tip the jar with the water on it’s side a bit.
The above picture is of the Turbo Roaster in the over, however it’s not the final position. I had to tilt it a bit more to get the metal tube all the way into the chicken.
I’m not overly impressed by this products. The idea is great it’s just hard to get the metal tube all the way in the chicken/turkey. I think if there was a way to make the tube come from the side rather than on top it would be less awkward and work better.
I don’t roast chicken often so I probably won’t use this again. I’ll see if a family member wants to try it out.
Stone Wave Microwave Cooker
Stone Wave will help you prepare delicious, gourmet foods in your microwave that your whole family will love, in LESS THAN five minutes! The secret is in the specially designed chimney that allows steam to escape, while the custom dome circulates heat evenly, infusing flavor into every bite! And with Stone Wave’s non-stick surface, you can make everything from eggs to baked desserts without butter, fats, or oils, for healthy, mess-free meals!
This product does seem to do what it says it will do. I have used it to make eggs and to heat up soup and left overs. The stream does escape fro the little “chimney” on top. It also does clean up easily enough (scrambled eggs sometimes stick a little).
I want to use it to make French Onion Soup, but I haven’t had a chance to make that yet.
The Stone Wave Microwave Cooker is a handy little kitchen gadget and it works great for me when I am making myself lunch or whipping up some eggs for my kids for breakfast.
The only downside is that it’s small and you can only make a recipe for one person at a time. According to the website you can use up to four cookers in the microwave at the same time, however you would have to have a huge microwave. Our microwave would only fit two at any given time.
The Stone Wave Microwave Cooker would make a great gift for a college student or someone who just moved into their first new home. Young adults could enjoy a bigger variety of meals instead of ordering pizza or Chinese take out every night. This would also make a great gift for someone who lives alone or even an elderly person.
I like this product. It does what it’s suppose to do. I just wish they made bigger versions so you can prepare meals for more than one person at a time.
Both products are available on the As Seen on TV website, www.AsSeenonTV.com and at As Seen on TV stores. You can also find the brand on the various social media sites (links are found at the top of their website).
Have you tried either of these products? If so, what did you think about them?
Do you have a favorite As Seen on TV product?
