Swiss Colony for the Holidays (Giveaway!)

For the past couple of years I have been purchasing gifts for my Father & Stepmother and my Grandfather (“Dad”) from Swiss Colony. I never know what to get for them for the holidays. My Father doesn’t “need” or “want” anything, as does my Dad. What do you get someone like that?

I used to comb the mall up and down looking for a great gift for them only to come up emply handed.

For the past few years I have been ordering from Swiss Colony. I have given my Father and Stepmother one of the breakfast gift baskets for the past couple of years and they always rave about them. They use them to make breakfast Christmas morning. I like that idea. In a way I feel like I’m there with them on Christmas morning because they are enjoying the breakfast that I sent to them. They especially like the ones that come with the pancake mixes.

This year I’m thinking about getting them this gift set.

I like the ceramic bowl it comes in. I’m thinking they can use it to prepare the pancake mix and then use it to pour the batter on the grill. Its also something they can use and enjoy after the holidays too. The little snowman torte is a nice touch.

When I did a search on the site for “Breakfast” it brought up Blueberry Pecan Cookies. OH MY! I think I need to order some for my family. I read the reviews for the cookies and everyone raves about them. If only my Dad likes Blueberries, I’d send these to him.

For my Dad this year I have been eyeing the the Ham & Swiss package. It contains a 3 pound pre-cooked boneless ham and a 2 pound block of Swiss cheese. My Dad lives by himself. My Mom passed away 8 years ago this month. Since then my Dad tends to eat out of a can or a bowl of cereal. He doesn’t cook. I like to get him meat and cheese combos so I know he can make himself a sandwich or maybe warm up the meat and make a nice dinner out of it.

Last year I sent Dad an assortment set (meat, cheese and other treats) which I knew he enjoyed and appreciated.  

Swiss Colony has a variety of gifts for every budget and there is something for everyone. Personally I enjoy the tweet treats like their cookies, cakes and candy assortments. One of my most favorites that I have ordered twice before are the Macadamia Nut Chocolates. I received a free sample with an order I placed a few years ago and since then I have been hooked on them. They are so good!

I have also ordered their Licorice Tin before as well. I love black licorice especially. I’ve enjoyed licorice ever since my great-grandfather introduced me to Licorice All Sorts. Have you ever had those before? I love them!

This year from Swiss Colony my family enjoyed an adorable Santa Claus cake. I know its a wee bit too early but there was no way this cake was going to last until Christmas. Now with my family. In fact we had to cut into it the very same night we received it.

The detail on this cake is amazing, right down to the light bulbs that he carries in his hands.

Here is a photo of our cake. I guess FedEx (or was it UPS?) wasn’t too kind to our package because Santa had a crack in his chest. I don’t blame Swiss Colony because the cake was packaged very well. It looks to me like someone tossed the box around too much. It’s no big deal. It tastes just as great with our without the crack in it. Ha Ha.

When my husband was cutting the cake he was cutting large pieces. I told him the cake was suppose to serve 16-18 people and there was just four of us, so he needed to make the slices more thin. He said it was fine and proceeded to cut average size pieces. Needless to say the kids didn’t argue with him. The bigger the better as far as they are concerned.

The cake its self was delicious. I loved the chocolate cream center. That was my favorite part. The cake was really nice too. For a cake that had been frozen the cake part was moist but not soggy.

The frosting (?) is VERY rich and sweet. Too much if you have a lot of it. Even my kids who love sweets said it was too sweet, only because they were eating huge chunks of it. We all agreed that thin slices was the way to go. If you decide to order this super adorable cake do yourself a favor and slice thin slices the way the cake was intended to be cut. If you cut average size pieces you’ll end up with a belly ache if you consume all of that rich, sweet frosting.

I wish I knew how they got their slices to perfect on the website. LOL!

This cake is PERFECT for a Christmas dinner or holiday party. It serves a lot of people if you cut the cake is small slices (and trust me you’ll enjoy it a lot more that way).

  85. Oh geez, your giveaways are making my stomach growl this morning :). It is so hard to pick out one thing to get from this website, but I would probably go with the Yule Log Trio since that would look SO CUTE when served for the holidays. My parents are coming into town the day after Christmas, so this would be impressive!
