It’s summer time. This is the time of year that many people look forward to the most (not me, I’m an autumn lover). It’s time for trips to the beach, lazy days by the pool, camping, vacation, and making s’mores by the fire pit.
When you are heading out for the day, no mater if you are going for a hike, picnic, or even just to your backyard, there are some essentials you need to consider bringing with you. Some might include sunscreen (always wear sunscreen!), bug spray, snacks, water (keep hydrated) and your camera (just in case you want to preserve the memories).
For me an essential I like to bring with me is my music. I listen to music every day. Music is my happy place.
I have an eclectic taste in music. I can listen to an Elton John song, followed by Metallica, then followed by BTS, and then maybe a little Pavarotti (yes, I listen to opera too). I’ve never limited the music I listen to. I’m not overly keen on blues or country, but there are some blues and country songs I will listen to.
Thank goodness for services such as Spotify. I LOVE that I can listen to all my favorite tunes on-the-go. There is no need to lug around a bunch of CDs, or dare I say, tape cassettes (I still had some up until recently).
I love that technology even makes it possible to use Bluetooth to stream music onto speakers, because let’s face it, the speakers on a smartphone are not that great for listening to music, especially when you are hanging out with family or friends.
If you enjoy listening to music on-the-go, and you spend a lot of time on or near the water (beach, lake, pool, on a boat…), let me introduce you to iLive’s “DURO” Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker. It’s a must have for music loving people, especially those who also love being around water.
iLive’s “DURO” Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker has an IPx5 rating (meaning splashproof, water-resistant, sweatproof, etc.) and a shock absorbing cover. It’s an excellent, durable speaker that was made for tunes by (or on) the water.
This speaker has two built-in full range speakers and passive subs. When I say this speaker can really blast music, I’m not kidding.
Oh, I should mentioned I was sent one to review.
This is a solid speaker. It’s not “flimsy” at all. It’s not heavy, but you can tell it’s very well made. It’s also super easy to operate. I consider myself “technologically challenged” sometimes, but I had this set up and running in mere minutes.
The speaker already came with a charge, so I was able to set it up right out of the box.
It was so easy to pair on Bluetooth. I simply opened up my Bluetooth section on my iPhone, and it was already there. I just had to click on it and it paired up instantly. I was literally jamming to my favorite tunes in a matter of minutes (much to the dismay of my young adult children who don’t share my same taste in music).
This is not the best video, and it’s NOT playing at full volume because we live in a condo and I didn’t want to upset my next door neighbors who have a toddler (the last thing I want to do is wake their son up from a nap).
To prove that I am “technolocically challenged,” I cannot figure out why my video is only a YouTube Short, and therefore I cannot pull up the HTML code for it to embed in this post. You can see my brief video here – https://youtube.com/shorts/nAEJWEOKIa8?
In the video I let it play for a brief bit, then I hold it and turn it around so you can see it from all sides, as well as the end where the controls are.
I love that this portable speaker has up to a 10-hour battery life (once fully charged). When you are on a boat, or at the beach, the last thing you want is for your speaker to die and no place to charge it. Ten hour is a very long time. I am impressed by that.
You don’t need to use this specifically around water. You can use this speaker anytime, anywhere, any month/season of the year. You also don’t have to use the Bluetooth feature. You can attach it directly to your smartphone via the included plug.
iLive also has other products you might want to check out, from health products to home theater, and from earphones to gaming. You can check them out at iLiveElectronics.com.
