Every where you turn these days you’ll hear about Taylor Swift. That young lady is such a hot topic these days and bringing in awards left and right. It’s amazing to think that she is so successful at such a very young age. It takes other performers years to make it to where she is now. She’s certainly on top of the world and rightfully so. In the beginning I wasn’t fond of her but she has long since “grown” on me. I’m not a fan of country music, but some of her songs are pretty good.
I doesn’t surprise me one bit that there is a lot of Taylor Swift merchandise on the market. She’s a good role model for young children.
Because Taylor Swift is seen as a musical artist and a fashion icon in the eyes of many a new line of fashion dolls has been created called the Taylor Swift Performance Collection dolls.
I know some readers are probably moaning right now…”Not ANOTHER Barbie type doll….” Yes, she is the same size and shape as the infamous fashion icon herself, but the Taylor Swift doll seems to have her own personality.
Jakks Pacific (www.JakksPacific.com) sent me one of the Taylor Swift dolls to review. We were sent the “Pictures to Burn” doll which is named after one of her songs. There is also a “Teardrops on my Guitar” doll, “Love Story” doll and a “You Belong With Me” doll. Each doll plays a 30 second highlight of one of her hit songs when you press on her stomach (there is an on/off switch in the back).

I think the doll is pretty. She has Taylor’s long, blond wavy hair. She is the same size and shape as standard fashion dolls so her clothes can be easily inter-changed with other dolls your child might have. The picture below was taken before her hair was combed and styled by my daughter (currently Taylor is sporting a pony tail).

Our doll came with a short black dress, black Fedora type hat, guitar, jewelry and some seriously interesting thigh high boots with heels.

Each Taylor Swift doll comes with a different ensemble.
The only thing I didn’t like about the doll is that she is not very posable. Her arms move up and down but you have to twist her at the elbow to get her hands to turn. You cannot bend her arms or her knees. When she sits her legs stick straight out. She is also plastic feeling as compared to other dolls that have that soft, rubbery like “skin” to them.
If you have small children in the home you may want to remove her jewelry. The doll we have came with bracelets and earrings.
The Taylor Swift dolls retail for $19.99. I see them for sale on Amazon, but for very inflated prices. If you are interested in purchasing the doll I would say wait until she is on the store shelves rather then pay the online price which is nearly double the retail price.
I think she is a very pretty doll. After you come her hair it becomes very soft and it maintains is nice wave.
My daughter might be a bit over the age range for the doll (unless you are a doll collector) but she couldn’t put her down. The doll has had about a half dozen different hair styles already. My daughter is also begging me to get her a Taylor Lautner doll (“Jacob” from the Twilight Movies) because he dated Taylor Swift for a brief time. LOL!
