** I am re-posting this review in case anyone is looking for a great family friendly Halloween movie.
Even though Halloween is a time for ghosts and goblins, it doesn’t mean it has to be scary for every member of the household, especially young children.
I love decorating for Halloween, the scarier the better. When my children were younger I had to tone it down a bit because scary decorations bothered them. Now that they are older the sky is the limit. My kids actually think it’s fun to have scary decorations. We’re actually hoping to one day buy a life size Jason Vorhees for our balcony. 🙂
If you are looking for some family friendly holiday entertainment for the Halloween season you might want to check out the movie called The Dog Who Saved Halloween.
The Dog Who Saved Halloween reminds me a lot of the Buddies movies, except when this dog talks his mouth doesn’t move. The dog, Zeus, if voiced by Joey Lawrence (Melissa &Â Joey).
There is not one thing scary about this movie. Even the neighbor’s dog, who is suppose to be menacing and scary, is not. Although the neighbor is played by Lance Henriksen (Aliens). That would creep me out. Ha Ha.
The Dog Who Saved Halloween is actually another installment of a series of The Dog Who Saved… movies. Other movies include The Dog Who Saved Christmas and The Dog Who Saved Christmas Vacation. I have never heard of these movies before.
In this movie, Zeus and his family (The Bannisters) moved into a brand new home just before Halloween.
Zeus and his owner George think that there is something suspicious about their creepy neighbor and his house, so they decide to check him out. Enlisting the help of two bumbling burglars, George and Zeus, they try and investigate their neighbor’s house to find out what exactly goes on over there. Zeus also needs to help find a missing cat who he thinks was eaten by a mean and evil dog name Medusa (voiced by Mayim Bialik of Blossom fame). Of course nothing goes as planned and a lot of crazy things go on. In the end it’s up to Zeus to save the day, all in time before Halloween.Â
All in all I think this is a cute movie. It’s not as cute as the Buddies movies. Zeus is an adult dog (not a puppy). I would have liked to have seen his mouth moved when he talked too. I guess I’m just “spoiled” by talking animals since I’m used to watching the Buddies movies.
The movies is rated PG, which I thought was kind of odd. I would have thought it would have been rated “G”. I guess I’m totally missing the reasons why it was given a PG rating. If I had a 6 year old child (for example) I would have no problem with him/her watching this movie.
It took me a while to figure out who the mom was in the movie. She was in the movie Clueless (the girl with the red hair). George is played by one of the actors in the series King of Queens.
The Dog Who Saved Halloween is a fun, family friendly movie that would be ideal for Family Movie Night.
Look for The Dog Who Saved Halloween where ever movies are sold.
