I know that some people don’t even have the ornaments packed away off the tree yet, but believe it or not Valentines Day is about a month away. WOW! Seems like just yesterday I was waiting in line at the party store with my daughter’s Halloween costume in hand and now I’m sitting here looking at the free Valentines Day cards that came with the new Disney movie called Winnie the Pooh – A Valentine for You.
I love Winnie the Pooh. I even pay tribute to him with a honey pot tattoo on my ankle. He has always been a childhood favorite of mine, along with the other lovable characters that reside in the Hundred Acre Wood.
Winnie the Pooh – A Valentine for You is a super sweet DVD that was just released on January 5, 2010. The DVD features two special Valentines stories plus bonus material.
The first episode is called “A Valentine for You“. Winnie the Pooh fears that Christopher Robin is not going to be his best friend anymore because he was bitten by the “Love Bug”, or as the Hundred Acre Wood friends say it was a “smite” from a Smitten. A Smitten is a Love Bug.
The friends get this silly idea in their head that if they can capture a Smitten they can un-smitten Christopher Robin. So the friends set out into the Hundred Acre Wood to find a Smitten. They do find a Smitten (aka Firefly/Lightning Bug), but they also find themselves lost in the very creepy woods.
Will they ever find their way out? Will the Smitten un-smitten Christopher Robin? You’ll just have to purchase or rent the DVD to find out.
In the episode “Un-Valentines Day” Rabbit declares that there will be no more Valentines this year because his home is exploding with cards from Valentines Days over the years. Unfortunately Pooh wakes up to discover a Valentines gift waiting for him. What follows is a lot of confusion among the friends as to who sent who a Valentines Day gift.
The friends even think that Christopher Robins is the mystery Valentines Day gift giver and come up with a play just for him, only to discover that it’s not Christopher Robin who has been leaving the secret gifts. If it’s not him, then who can it be?
The “Un-Valentines Day” episode is immediately followed by The Three Little Pigs, only it’s been altered by Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Rabbit. The classic story now has some funny and wacky twists to it. I thought this was pretty funny.
There are two bonus features too.
“My Hero” looks like it came from the Winnie the Pooh series. When Piglet saves Tigger’s life Tigger feels that he must become Piglet’s servant. Except Piglet doesn’t like Tigger doing things for him (Tigger has a way of messing things up). Piglet then comes up with the plan to have Tigger save his life so that they will be even. Sadly it doesn’t work out that way. Before you know it Eeyore saves Rabbit, Rabbit saves Gopher, Owl saves Eeyore…and so on. All the friends end up saving each other.
There is even a cute game included called Catch the Love Bug. You have to use your remote control to move a jar around to try and capture some of the Smittens (Love Bugs). It’s a cute game. VERY easy, but I’m sure lots of fun for little ones.
There are also A LOT of sneak peeks at upcoming releases, Blu-ray releases and much more that you might want to check out too.
Winnie the Pooh – A Valentine for You is available now where ever DVD’s are sold. This is a super cute DVD to add to your family’s movie collection.
