Do you take your pet Trick or Treating with you? Do you enjoy dressing up your cat for your Halloween parties?
I have to admit that I think it’s cute when pets get dressed up for Halloween (as long as it’s OK with the pet of course). Recently I took photo of pets for our local animal shelter. They hosted a “Barktoberfest” (Octoberfest) and had a Halloween costume contest. Check out a few of the adorable costumes the dogs wore.
Aren’t they cute! I love the giant (and he was GIANT!) Great Dane dressed as an angel. The last dog pictured is wearing a bear costume and a tutu. For his costume he’s a “Dancing Bear”. How original. I love it!
I took 507 photos that day. There had to be well over 100+ well dressed dogs in costume. I’d share more photos but I don’t want to bore you. 🙂
The dog in the yellow shirt (above) is in a Jersey Shore costume. Ha Ha.
A great source for fun Halloween costumes for your four-legged family member is PetSmart.
I think PetSmart has one of the cutest collections of dog Halloween costumes. I love it that each costume is VERY affordable too. The costumes range in price from $5.00 – $12.00 with most costumes in the $8-$9 range. If only children’s costumes were that affordable.
You might think that the inexpensive cost of th costumes mean that you are getting a “cheap quality”. I don’t think that is the case at all. Our dog has the Top Paw Basketball Player costume and I think it’s made very well. If it can withstand our dog running around our home with it on it can certainly handle a night out trick or treating.
Here is the costume as seen on the PetSmart website (retail value $8.39),
And here is the costume on our dog Espn (pronounced Es-pin).
I wish my photos were a little nicer. Espn is not one to stop and pose for pictures. He’s always on the go-go-go.
The costume was super easy to put on. All I had to do was hold him down long enough (he’s truly ALWAYS moving) and slip his front legs into the “pants” on the costume. Then wrap a piece a material around his neck and close with the Velcro. The costume is all one piece. Once it was on him he was able to run around and chase the cats just like he normally does. He did try to remove the Basketball a few times but once he realized it wasn’t coming off he gave up.
The best thing about this costume is that we can use it again next year and for many years to come.
So far everyone who has seen him in his costume think it’s the funniest and cutest costume they have ever seen. I think PetSmart has plenty of super cute and funny costumes. Here are a few including cat costumes too.
I don’t know if my cats would wear a costume but they certainly are cute.
PetSmart is hosting a Halloween costume contest on their Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/PetSmart?sk=app_205695282820896.
