Last week I wrote about a new product that will help people with digestive and lactose issues. It’s called Beano + Dairy Defense.
Beano + Dairy Defense is made with two natural enzymes that help to break down lactose and complex carbohydrates found in foods that normally cause bloating, diarrhea and stomach discomfort.
When I used to think about Beano I would think about gas prevention. Some foods do cause people to get gas. I would never think about Beano in regards to helping prevent other gastronomical issues.
Beano’s new Dairy Defense helps people with lactose issues too. Having a lactose intolerance to certain foods can also cause gas as well as bloating and discomfort.
I was asked to try out Beano + Dairy Defense by eating foods I would not normally eat because they cause me to have “tummy troubles”.
I love cheese. I REALLY love cheese. Sadly cheese doesn’t feel the same way about me. Some cheeses simply do not sit well in my stomach.
I wanted to put Beano + Dairy Defense to the test so my family and I went to one of our favorite Italian restaurants and I ordered something I would normally avoid – Bake Ziti Florentine (Ziti with Spinach). The restaurant has been known to pile on the cheese. Cheese and spinach are two foods that tend to disrupt my stomach.
The restaurant also gives you a nice garden salad with each dinner. Salad is another food that upsets my stomach. I don’t know if it’s the lettuce or the veggies that usually come with the salad. I try to avoid creamy dressings, so I know dressing is not the issue.
The bottle is very small in size. It looks larger in the photos then it actually is. The bottle is no bigger than an average size tube of lipstick.
In order to take advantage of Beano + Dairy Defense you need to take one Raspberry Sorbet flavored chewable tablet before your meal. I like to take it about 10 minutes before I eat so that it has time to start working. Normally I take one right after I place my order, that way I know it’s ready to start working when our meals arrive.
I enjoyed both the Baked Ziti Florentine and the house salad.
The first thing I noticed after my meal is that I didn’t feel bloated. Sometimes I get so bloated that I feel like I can’t move. I feel like the character of Violet from Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (the one who ballooned up into a giant blueberry).
Feeling bloated is very uncomfortable. It makes you feel “stuffed” even if you didn’t over eat.
As I mentioned before, salad often upsets my stomach even forcing me to race to the bathroom (not to be gross… it’s just a part of life). That didn’t happen to me this time – thankfully.
After enjoying a lovely dinner with my family I felt full and satisfied, not stuffed, crampy or nauseous.
Two thumbs up for Beano + Daily Defense. It passed it’s first test with flying colors.
I put Beano + Dairy Defense to the test again recently at Dylan’s Candy Bar in New York City. My husband has been wanting to return there for almost a year. There was an ice sundae on their menu that he just had to have – Candy Bar Blast.
Due to my lactose intolerance I cannot eat much ice cream – only a few spoonfuls at a time.
I would have loved to have ordered the same sundae as my husband but I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on something I might not be able to finish due to my intolerance. My husband did let me have several spoonfuls to try it out (plus it was too much for him to finish).
I knew we were going to Dylan’s Candy Bar so I made sure to take the Beano + Dairy Defense with me. I took one tablet and gave it several minutes to “kick in” (so to speak). Then I tried several spoonfuls of his ice cream sundae.
Under normal conditions I would have NEVER attempted that because the last thing I’d want is an upset stomach while visiting New York City. Public restrooms are not readily available.
I am happy to report that my stomach was able to tolerate his ice cream. 🙂 I didn’t eat a lot of it (just a few spoonfuls). I had just enough to enjoy it. Under normal circumstances I would have never even attempted to sample it.
I did get a little bit full (not bloated) because I had a strawberry-banana smoothie while we were there. It was a large cup and very filling, it had nothing to do with “tummy troubles”.
I plan on keeping the bottle of Beano + Dairy Defense in my purse because you ever know when you might need it.
I am enjoying the Beano product. I like being able to enjoy certain foods again.
If you decide to try Beano + Dairy Defense for yourself I would recommend easing into it. Everyone is different. Try it a few times like I have and see how your stomach feels afterwards before moving on to more foods. I am certainly very pleased with my experiences thus far but I’m not about to dive right into a giant ice cream sundae. I want to slowly move up to things like that.
Do you have certain foods that upset our stomach? What foods bother you the most? Feel free to share your experiences. I always love to hear from my readers.
