Do you get enough fiber in your diet? Let me ask that question again – do you HONESTLY get enough fiber in your diet?
From what I have read that adults need between 25 grams to 30 grams of fiber per day. As per the American Dietetic Association most American’s get only half the amount of recommended fiber in their diets on a daily basis.
Fiber is found in a lot of foods including peas, chickpeas, beans, raspberries, dark leafy greens, popcorn, pasta, oranges, bananas, lettuce, sweet potatoes and carrots, do name a few. When I look at the list of foods that contain fiber I do enjoy most of them -just not on a daily basis. It’s hard even for the healthiest eater to get the recommended amount of fiber into their daily diets. That is why I take a fiber supplement.
Fiber is important to help maintain and support a healthy digestive tract. It helps to move food through our system. It’s also important for your immune system.
I won’t mention the brand but the fiber I’ve been taking comes in chewable tablets. They are not the most tasty things but they are tolerable. They are much better then the fiber you mix in with water. Blah! Have you ever tried that kind of fiber supplement? It’s like drinking a glass of water with sand in it.
I was offered the opportunity to take the 30 Day “Get Picky” Challenge from Fiber Choice. As part of the challenge I replaced my chalky chewable fiber with FiberChoice Fruity Bites. They come in a gummy form. I enjoy taking gummies.
Fiber Choice is available in other enjoyable varieties – Fiber Choice® chewable tablets; Fiber Choice® Fruity Bites; Fiber Choice® Weight Management; Fiber Choice® Plus Calcium and Fiber Choice® Plus Antioxidants.
Fiber Choice products can be taken every day as part of a healthy lifestyle.
Fiber Choice is a great choice in fiber supplements because they contain 100% soluble natural fiber. There are two types of fiber – soluble and insoluble.
Soluble fiber dissolves in water. It may help to slow digestion and help your body absorb vital nutrients from some foods. Insoluble fiber helps foods pass through the digestive system and adds bulk to the stool, which is particularly beneficial for those who struggle with constipation, because bulkier stools are easier to pass. Both types of fiber are important for digestion and overall health.
Fiber Choice also contains inulin, which is the soluble fiber found naturally in fruits and veggies.
Fiber Choice supplements contain 3 grams of fiber per serving (2 tablets/gummies).
Fiber Choice products can be consumed by people ages 6 and older (for the weight management product you must be 18+ years old). My teenagers don’t get enough fiber in their diets either. My son especially has an issue with irregularity. I’m going to see about picking up a bottle for my teens.
Fiber Choice products are also gluten-free.
I chose the gummies because I take other gummy supplements and vitamins. I find that I am more likely to remember to take the supplements when they are fun and tasty – just like the fruity Fiber Choice supplements. Plus they are made with both natural colors and natural flavor and are the most preferred gummy among consumers – myself included.
I started the challenge more than a week ago (my apologies for not posting this sooner). So far, so good. I enjoy the taste of the gummies which makes them easy to remember to take in the morning. They are more like a “treat” then a supplement because I love how they taste. They are fun to eat too. 🙂
I’ll post again in a couple of weeks and share my thoughts about the “Get Picky” Challenge. Keep an eye out for that post.
