As wife and mother, I always want to do what is best for my family. I want them to be happy and healthy all the time. The same applies for our cats.
One of our cats suffers from severe asthma. For that reason I have air purifiers in our home. Not only does it help eliminate some of the allergens that trigger he asthma attacks, but they are also cleaning the air that me and my family breathe.
My family also uses a Brita to filter our drinking water (we use it for the cats too). We have town water, which I am not fond of (I don’t like the taste at all). I grew up drinking well water, which was delicious and refreshing. The water we have in our home is gross, if you ask me. Maybe I’m just spoiled from having well water.
I thought about one of those water filter systems that install under your sink, but they are too pricey. My father had one of those installed in his home and it really makes a difference with the water.
People think about having clean, pure water to DRINK, but what about the water you bathe and shower with? Do you ever think about the purity of that water? I never did until recently.
The brand GoodFor was kind enough to send me one of their 8-Stage Shower Filters. I never thought about filtering the water we shower with, but I was open to giving it a try.
GoodFor’s 8-Stage Shower Filter removes impurities from the water that comes through the showerhead.
- Kinetic Redox Media
- Removes chlorine and heavy metals like lead, mercury, iron, hydrogen sulfide, and arsenic
- Activated Carbon
- Acts as a secondary chlorine filter while also removing volatile organic compounds as well as bad odors and tastes
- Anionic Cera
- Provides another filter for removing chlorine, volatile organic compounds, bad odors, and tastes
- Anionic Cera 1
- Provides yet another filter for removing chlorine, volatile organic compounds, bad odors, and tastes
I honestly don’t know what any of this stuff is, or what it means, but I can only assume it’s all good stuff.
I was concerned that installing the filter would be too complicated. It couldn’t have been any easier. It literally just screws on to the pipe that comes out of the wall, and on to the shower head. It took my husband mere minutes to do it. And he didn’t need any tools. The filter came with special “tape” that you use to install it, and my husband screwed it on by hand.

GoodFor Co claims that the benefits of their 8-Stage Shower Filter are;
- 99.99% clean, pure, and safe bathing water
- Softer, silkier, and healthier skin
- Healthier, cleaner, and shinier hair
- No more limescale build-up
- It won’t affect your water pressure
- Eliminates bad odors and taste (because sometimes shower water gets in your mouth!)
I would LOVE healthier skin and hair.
My husband was the first person to use the shower after installing the filter. I asked him what he thought about it, and if he noticed a difference. He said that the water felt “softer,” if that makes any sense. I honestly didn’t know what he meant by that. I figured once I hopped in the shower I’d know what he was talking about.
OH MY GOODNESS! Never in a million years would I think that adding a filter system to the shower head would make so much of a difference. Where has this been all my life!
I sort of figured out what my husband meant by the water feeling softer. It’s hard to explain. You just have to experience it for yourself to understand.
After I get out of the shower my hair is usually a tangled mess. My hair was not tangled at all after washing it using the filter. I was easily able to comb my hair. I didn’t even need to apply any product to get out any stubborn knots because there wasn’t any.
My hair is colored. In fact, the hair underneath is bleached and colored (I color it dark purple and dark blue). Because my hair has been bleached several times, my ends look a bit “fried” and are dry. I need to run an air dryer on the ends to smooth them out.
I always let my hair dry naturally and then use the air dryer to fix the ends once my hair is dry. After showering with the filter my ends looked really good! I was shocked! My hair actually looked (and felt) like I used some kind of product in my hair, but I didn’t. Even my natural waves looked pretty good and not frizzy.
My hair feels soft too!
I’m SHOCKED!
My skin also feels good too. Normally when I shower my skin feels dry and “tight.” I think it’s from the soap residue or something like that. My skin did not feel that way at all. No “tightness” whatsoever. That’s great! I usually feed the need to apply moisturizer all over my body and face the moment I step out of the shower. I don’t feel that way now that I take showers with the GoodCo’s 8-Stage Shower Filter.
I can’t comment on any build up in the shower or tub yet, but so far, so good. I haven’t noticed any build up.
The water even smells better. I think that is an odd thing to say, but the water doesn’t have a smell. Prior to the filter “I” could smell something (my family thinks I’m nuts because they never did).
This product has truly been a Godsend for me and my family. It’s made a world of difference. I wish I had known about this product years ago.
I cannot rave enough about the GoodCo’s 8-Stage Shower Filter. While it’s true that I get a lot of products to review, and most products (not all) I have wonderful things to say about them. THIS product is by far one of my favorites. It’s certainly one of my 10 top products I’ve been sent to review since 2008. THAT is how much I love this filter.
