I have been going crazy lately trying to think of gift ideas for my husband, my kids (who are young adults, which makes it harder), my co-workers, friends and a few neighbors. Lately when I walk into a store I’m just bored – yes, BORED – with the options that I am finding. Nothing really stands out to me, and I feel like everything I see is just “been there, done that.” Do you know what I mean? What I really want is something different and unique, perhaps something with a homemade quality to it.
I know that I can make gifts for people. I have in the past, but I don’t have the free time like I used to. Many years ago I had plenty of time to make gifts. Now I’m lucky if I can put my laundry away, let alone put the thought and time into a handmade gift.
Thankfully there are brands out there that offer the same handmade touch. It’s called Idea Chic.
Idea Chíc is independently owned and created by David and Julie Sandusky. They design and make greeting cards, gifts, and custom social stationery in Glendale, CO, since 2009.
All printing, bindery, and related equipment (including their 1930’s letterpress) are kept in-house in the Idea Chíc stationery shop, design studio, and workshop to ensure high quality, excellent service, and fast delivery.
First and foremost, Idea Chic makes beautiful cards and stationary – including Christmas cards!
Admittedly, I have purchased my fair share of boxed Christmas cards (the kind made on cheap paper and are mass produced). I do buy special cards for the extra special people in my life. I buy the kind of cards that pop-up or light up, sometimes even play music. However, I love the idea of a handmade looking card. I think it shows that I put more thought and effort into selecting the perfect card for them, instead of roaming the aisles of my local drug store.
Here are a few examples of holiday cards on the Idea Chic website.

Beautiful! Simply beautiful.
I had the opportunity to try out a couple of “Thank You” cards from Idea Chic, so I can see the true quality of these lovely cards.

I love the one with the typewriter look to the font. It has a retro feel to it.
It’s hard to tell from the photo, but the “wreath” thank you card is small in size, a great size to tuck inside a thank you gift or hostess gift.
I love the look and feel of these cards. I love the paper that is used. You can tell immediately that it’s a quality paper, unlike the type of paper used with mass produced cards.
Idea Chic carries other cards including invitations, announcements, birthday, anniversary and more. Boxed sets are also available.
Idea Chic also sells delightful gifts. I received to review from the brand two of their Mulling Spices Sachets. OH MY GOODNESS! How adorable are these? Not only do I love the attached tag, but the brand also attached real cinnamon sticks to each sachet.
Mulling Spices Sachets offer an approachable, easy-to-make beverage that is sure to brighten up a kitchen and charm loved ones. Simply add the mulling spices to cider, wine or grape juice and brew directly in the bag.
They also make a cute and fragrant decoration for small spaces in the kitchen.
Each sachet is packaged in a 2 3/4″ x 4″ muslin bag filled with mulling spices to include aromatic cinnamon chips, allspice, orange peel and cloves.

These look like they came from a fancy boutique. I love it! And their scent… LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! I cannot begin to describe how amazing these smell. I cannot sniff them enough (ha ha).
I have not used the two that I have – yet. I am waiting until Thanksgiving night, after dinner. Sadly, it’s only me and my husband for Thanksgiving this year (our daughter is going to her boyfriend’s mom’s house, and our son has to work). I figured we’d have a simple dinner, then afterwards enjoy a cup of mulled cider, and watch It’s a Wonderful Life and/or Miracle on 34th Street (the originals, of course!). I thought it would be a perfect way to end the day.
These sachets would make a great party favor. I can imagine these being given to guests at a fall wedding. That would be perfect!
The labels can be personalized too!

Another sachet I received from the brand to review is their Evergreen Pine Balsam Fire sachet. I am “addicted” to smelling this!
Perfect for closets, drawers or garment bags, our evergreen pine balsam fir sachet offers a fresh pine scent that will bring the woods inside, without the mud or bugs.
Filled with balsam fir tree pine petals, this sachet is reminiscent of an evergreen or pine tree or being in the woods.
Eventually I’ll put this in my bedroom closet, but for now I have this on my desk.
It is evident to me that Idea Chic puts their heart and soul into each and every product that they make, whether it’s stationary or gifts/favors.
