If there is one thing I can do without during the warm weather months is just that – warm weather! I am not a fan of heat or humidity. I love sunshine, blue skies and hanging outside with my family. I just don’t like sweating or wanting to pass out from the overwhelming humidity.
We have ceiling fans in every room in our home except the hallway. They are a great way to get the air circulating and often they are enough to cool our home down. There are those occasions during the summer where we have to break down and put on the AC. We try to avoid doing that as much as possible because it jacks up the electric bill. Case in point our bill was $60 something last month and $188 this month all because we had to put the air conditioners on a few times. Sigh…
We keep a couple of fans in our home too. I have one on my desk since my desk is furthest from the air conditioner and I can barely feel it on my side of the living room. My kids also have small fans in their room.
We used to have a pedestal fan but we lost it. No kidding… we lost it. When we had our condo on the market last year we packed up a lot of stuff to get it out of the way. We’re not sure where the fan went. We’re hoping it’s at my father’s house in his basement, but we’re not sure.
Fans are great but often they can be loud. When you are trying to watch TV you don’t want to have to crank up the volume to hear the TV over the sound of the fan. Thankfully with our new Rowenta Turbo Silence fan we no longer have to do that. We can watch TV with our normal volume.
I was sent to review the Rowenta Turbo Silence 16-inch Pedestal Fan. It’s a great fan.
The fan was super easy to put together. My husband had it up and running in about 10 minutes from the time he opened the box. There are just a few pieces you have to put together (easy to follow directions included) and before you know it you are enjoying the cool breeze from your new fan.
What I love about the new fan is that is comes with a remote control. In the past if I woke up at night and I was hot – but not enough to turn on the AC – I would have to physically get out of bed to turn on the fan (the ceiling fan is always on). With the Rowenta Turbo Silence fan I am able to turn it on/off and adjust the speeds from the comfort of bed with the remote. Now I can turn it on when I want to cool the place down a bit and turn it off when I’m ready to go to sleep.
Rowenta is not exaggerating when they say this fan is “silent” because it is! I would never it was on if I didn’t see it moving and feel the breeze it delivers. It’s very quite. It’s so quite that there are times I forget it’s even on and will go to bed with it still turned on. Thank goodness for the remote control. For those times I forget it’s still on I just have to press the power button on the remote.
According to the Rowenta website the sound level the fan puts out is equivalent to a library!
The quiet operation of the Rowenta Turbo Silence fan ranks from 38 to 55 decibels, which technical tests prove is equal to average noise levels recorded in a library.
The fan does have a control panel on it’s “neck” area. There you can turn the unit on/off and adjust the speed. There is also a Turbo Boost setting which moves air up to 1,695 cubic feet per minute for an immediate cooling effect. We keep the fan on the Turbo Boost setting most of the time. Even with the Turbo Boost setting the fan is very quiet.
The fan can be adjusted in height and the fan part pivots so you can adjust the fan to deliver the cool air exactly where you want it.
I am really impressed by how sturdy the fan is. The fan is a bit on the heavy side because of it’s heavy base. You would really have to knock the fan VERY HARD to tip it over. It’s very sturdy.
With our missing fan our cats could easily make it wobble by walking next to it and bumping into it. It’s no wonder they never knocked it down. There is no way our cats can knock over the Rowenta fan. Not even our dog could.
I am extremely pleased with this fan. I plan on getting a second one for another room in our home.

This looks like a high quality fan and I like that it’s on a pedastal!

That is one “sexy” looking fan! I love the size of it. It has been so darn hot here that I find it hard to sleep. But I cannot deal with a loud fan so I try to cool off with the ceiling fan. This would be so much better! A little pricey, but for the bedroom well worth it.
