Many months ago I won an iPad. Many of my readers might remember that. Its a pretty nifty gadget. I mostly use it to check e-mails if I don’t want to log on to my computer or to browse the ‘net. My husband uses it for the same reason. My kids on the other hand LOVE to play the zillion games that are available for download for the iPad (iPhone).
Apple offers a lot of fun games (some rather addicting) that you can download for free or for a nominal charge from iTunes. I try and add a new game or two every couple of weeks for the kids and remove the ones they have got bored with (the free ones).
There is a fun application you can download for the iPad or iPhone called Carnival Games.
For $3.99 you can get a some what realistic carnival experience including 10 classic carnival games.
Before you can begin to explore the carnival grounds you first have to create your person. You can choose either boy or girl. Then you get to name your character. I couldn’t name mine Kimberly because it only allows for five characters.
You can also choose hair color, faces, clothing and more. There are other accessories you can unlock when you win a lot of tickets at the games.
The game features “happy-go-lucky” music. If it gets on your nerves you can always turn off the volume. You don’t need it to play any of the games.
Using your finger you can direct your person where to walk around the carnival grounds.
The animations are really cute and there is a lot to see and do around the carnival.
You’ll find something for everyone (game wise) at the Carnival. The games include:
– Bumper Boats. This takes a bit to get used to steering the boat but once you get the hang of it its a lot of fun!
– Test of Strength. This is that classic game where you hit a target as hard as you can with a hammer and try and hit it hard enough to ring the bell. I have yet to master this game. I’m still at “weakling” level. Ha Ha.
– Clown Bonk. Think “Whack-a-Mole” but with clowns.
– Balloon Darts. Flick your finger across the screen to control darts and try and pop as many balloons as you can.
– Star Shooting. This is just like the carnival game where you have to use a BB gun to shoot out the star on a piece of paper. This is another game that I have really mastered yet.
– Nerves of Steel. They have this game at Chuck E. Cheese! You have to use your finger to control the direction of a ring as it passes over a twisting and turning electrical cord (for lack of a better description). You need to get the ring to the other end without letting it touch the cord. This game is rather addicting.
– Frog Leap. This game is really fun. You need to make a frog leap on to a Lilypad, a duck leap on to a nest and try and hit a pirate ship with a cannon ball. You have to to be able to see what character you need to make leap in order to see what target you need to hit. This is one of my most favorite games.
– Wild West. This game is easy and fast paced. Its another shooting game where you need to hit the targets that are either flying around or stationary.
– Great Swami. Ask the Swami a yes or no question. If you have ever seen the movie “Big” starring Tom Hanks then you have an idea what type of “game” this is. Think “Magic 8 Ball”. LOL!
– Spilled Milk. Toss the balls at the milk bottles to try and knock them all down. Its a lot harder then it sounds, trust me!
– Shooting Gallery. This is yet another shooting game. Use the BB gun to shoot at duck targets and they quickly pass in front of you on the screen.
There are other things you can do with this game like interact with some of the characters running around the carnival grounds. For example you can ride a see-saw with a little girl, chase after a butterfly or pet a cat.
With each game you win tickets. The more tickets you have you can redeem them for great “prizes”.
This is a really cute game and for $3.99 you are getting a lot of games. Some are easy, some are a lot harder to “master”. Overall its a lot of fun and a great application to have on your iPad or iPhone.
There are a few games that pop up when you do a search in the application store for Carnival Games. The one I am referring to has the man with the moustache on his face as part of the icon.
There is a FREE version of this application but you do not get as many games or “bells and whistles” as the paid version. Its a good way to “try before you buy” too.
