What are your thoughts about washing dishes? Does it bother you to see dishes piled high in the sink? Are you quick to put dirty dishes in the dishwasher and tend to them right away? Or are dishes not something you normally think about?
I literally cannot go to bed at night if I know that all the dishes are not cleaned and put away. I’m not kidding! I will toss and turn and get out of bed to do dishes if need be. I happen to enjoy walking into a nice, clean kitchen in the morning. I don’t want to be greeted by a sink full of dirty dishes or having to unload the dishwasher first thing in the morning.
I always do my dishes as soon as I’m done with breakfast and lunch. I encourage my family to do the same thing. My teenagers seem to disregard that rule and I have come home to a sink full of dishes. Their excuse? “I forgot.” Or “I was going to do it later.” Ugh!
When it comes to dinner dishes we always put them in the dishwasher.
Some people think that running the dishwasher uses more water than handwashing your dishes. That is not true. Handwashing your dishes uses up to seven times more water than a regular dishwashing cycle in your dishwasher.
I can believe that. My kids let the water run when they are washing dishes. That irks me to no end! I tell them all the time to turn the water off until you need to rinse off the dishes.
It’s so much easier to do your dishes in the dishwasher. Not only does it save you the time it takes to handwash dishes, your dishes are also cleaner. The high heat from the dishwasher helps to kill germs and bacteria from your dishes as well as leaving them clean and shiny. I love not having to dry dishes too. The dishwasher does that for you too with the high heat. All you need to do is empty out the clean dishes and put them away.
Have you tried Finish® Max in 1 yet?
Finish sent me some Max in 1 dishwasher “tablets” to try out with our dishes.
I like tablets so much better than liquid or powder dishwashers. It makes things so much easier and there is no mess. I can’t tell you how many times we go the power or liquid cleaner all over the place. With Finish Max in 1 all you do is pop one in the dishwasher dispenser and you are all set.
Finish Max in 1 leaves your dishes clean and shiny. Even drinking glasses come out clear. There are no water marks (at least none that we have seen).
What I love about Finish Max in 1 is that you don’t have to pre-wash the dishes before washing the dishes. There is nothing that irks me more than having to wash the dishes BEFORE washing the dishes – meaning, having to scrap off left over and stuck on food before putting it in the dishwasher. At that point you might has well just hand wash the dish instead of putting it in the dishwasher.
I also dislike unloading supposedly cleaned dishes from the dishwasher only to find that some of the dishes are not fully clean and having to hand wash them after being in the dishwasher.
Washing dishes before and/or after using the dishwasher is just a huge waste of time, energy and water. Thankfully with Finish Max in 1 there is no need to pre-wash or post-wash dishes. Finish gets it cleaned inside your dishwasher, as it should be.
I also like the scent. Finish Max in 1 has a nice, clean scent. Your dishes don’t hold the scent. The product just smells nice when you take it out of the bag.
Finish created an interesting infographic that compares handwashing to dishwashing.
They also have more great tips on their website.

I am interested in trying these, it seems that with my dishwasher most “hard” detergent pods don’t clean as well as the softer gel kind. Curious to see how these will work.
