Some 12 ounce cans of soda can contain as much as 39 grams of sugar which translates into 140 calories.
I know there are diet sodas on the market. I’m not a fan. Diet sodas to me have a very artificial taste to them. If I am at a restaurant I will only order regular soda. Recently we met some friends at our favorite Chinese restaurant and they accidentally gave me one of the diet sodas my friends ordered. Blah!
What if I told you that you can get real cola taste but with 60% less sugar and only 60 calories per can? It’s not a diet soft drink, but rather real cola that has been made with less sugar.
Introducing the new Pepsi Next. Pepsi Next has only 15 grams of sugar and 60 calories.
I was fortunate to be one of the first people across the country to try out the new Pepsi Next before it comes out on store shelves across the country later on this month (March 26th).
Here is is commercial for the new Pepsi Next. Those of you reading this post via e-mail can see the video here, http://bit.ly/GPY70g.
I was a little apprehensive. I honestly thought it was going to taste more like diet Pepsi then regular Pepsi. I was pleasantly surprised that it didn’t taste like diet Pepsi at all. It didn’t have that weird after taste like most diet sodas have. It didn’t leave any after taste and it was very enjoyable.
I would not say that Pepsi Next tastes just like regular Pepsi. It doesn’t. It’s not as sweet as regular Pepsi which is actually fine with me since I don’t like things that are too sweet. For me the Pepsi Next has it’s own unique taste. It lies somewhere between regular Pepsi and Diet Pepsi, but without the diet cola after taste.
If given a choice between regular Pepsi, Pepsi Next and diet Pepsi I would opt for Pepsi Next. It has a pleasant cola taste with more than half the calories and 60% less sugar.
I’m giving Pepsi Next two thumbs up. My family each had the chance to try it as well and all three of them also enjoyed it, my daughter especially (she specifically told me to mention in my review that she really likes the soda. LOL!).
Before anyone goes off on me for drinking soda, please re-read my post. I am not much of a soda drinker. Nor is my husband or my children. The only time we drink soda is if we are eating out at a restaurant or at a party or barbecue. Rarely do we buy soda for at home consumption. My husband will when it’s football season (he likes to have chips and soda when watching the games).
I am only human and I love good tasting things. I love soda. I truly do. But for health reasons I limit my consumption. I look at soda as a treat, not as a thirst quencher. Water is my #1 choice for me and my family.
Like they say in the booze commercials – “Drink Responsibly”. Another words, enjoy your soda, just make sure you enjoy it in moderation. And if you are a fan of Pepsi consider swapping out regular Pepsi for Pepsi Next. You’ll still enjoy the great Pepsi taste but with less sugar and calories.

I’m glad they are creating more less sugar blends. I hope I get to try too since I’m an avid diet
pepsi drinker and not ashamed to admit it. 🙂 I couldn’t get thru the day without my diet
pepsi’s but losing the aftertaste would be great! I look forward to trying Pepsi Next.
