Game Day: Must-Have Essentials for Sideline Season

It’s football season. If you are anything like my husband, you have been waiting for opening day for months. My husband is a football fanatic. He’s not as “crazy” as he used to be. When we first got married he would get grumpy if his beloved team lost. These days he doesn’t really care who wins or loses, as long as it’s a great game.

We haven’t gone to the local high school football game yet, but have plans to.

I have a few parents of the kids I work with who have already started with afterschool practices and weekend games. One family have a son who plays football and his younger sister cheers for the team, so they have football and cheerleading practices to race their kids off to each week. I remember doing that with my kids too. It can get really hectic.

I also remember those chilly days having to sit on the sideline watching my kids play. Often I would bring a blanket with me to put over my lap to help keep me warm. There were days I wondered how the kids were able to keep warm because it was so cold.

City Bonfires was kind enough to send me a Chair Blanket to check out for myself. They sent me their Buffalo Plaid Chair Blanket. It’s also available in green and gray.

The Chair Blanket arrives perfectly folded.

Once you unfold The Chair Blanket, you’ll find the “pocket'” that goes over the top of your chair (where your head would be). Then simply drape the rest of the blanket across your chair. There is ample blanket to drape over the arms of the chair too.

Unfortunatly I don’t have a regular outdoor chair handy for the sake of doing this review. We’ve already packed away the chairs we sit outside with. We did it to make room for our Halloween decorations we’ll be putting up on our balcony soon. That’s okay because The Chair Blanket fits on my desk chair too.

I actually don’t mind it being on my desk chair. There are plenty of times I am chilly at my desk. They way the living room is designed the heater is no where near where I sit at my desk. I have a space heater but I am reluctant to use it around our cats.

Speaking of cats, my cats LOVE The Chair Blanket. They are always lying on it. It actually works out great because it keeps cat hair off my desk chair AND it keeps my calico (picture) from scratching my chair too (she prefers to scratch furniture over using the scratch pads and posts…ugh!).

Granted, The Chair Blanket was not created for a desk chair, but it’s great that it’s so versatile. My son has the same desk chair as I do and he even said he wants one for his desk chair for the same reasons. I think I made a sale (ha ha).

My dream is to have a fire pit (first I need a yard…sigh…). I can imagine sitting out by a fire pit, roasting marshmallows, gazing at the stars and having a wonderful conversation with others. The Chair Blanket would fit in perfectly in that scenario.
