I love writing. I was born to write. Writing (and photography) are my passion. When my site was down for most of this week I have been at a total loss. I didn’t know what to do with myself. Writing, for me, is almost like an addiction. I know I’m not the best writer (far from it), but its something that I enjoy doing.
Now that my site is back up I have plenty of posts I need to catch up on. The problem is, I lost my writing “mojo”. I am actually at a lost for what to write about. I guess some people would refer to it as a “writer’s block”.
Wouldn’t it be nice to have your own personal writing tutor who could help you formulate your thoughts? I KNOW what I need to write, I’m just having a hard time putting my thoughts down. It’s almost as if I need to make an outline for each post. I haven’t had to do outlines since I was in high school, about 100 years ago. Do school even teach children how to make outlines? I don’t even know if my own kids do that anymore.
It doesn’t help that my mind seems to be in a fog these days. I don’t know if its from not feeling well, the stress from my site issues, S.A.D. (Seaonal Affective Disorder), or a combination of things. I need a bottle of Focus Factor or something like that. Ha Ha.
I’m sure other bloggers and writers can relate.
How do you get your writing “mojo” back? Do you take a break from writing? Do you write up outlines? How do you get your writing juices flowing again?
I would love to hear your tips and tricks for getting your head out of the fog and getting back into writing. Thanks! 🙂

lol bottle of focus factor…i wish….when i had to write papers and essays for school i would completely disconnect myself from the world find a cozy spot in my house or a scenic area to go to if the weather was nice, bring snacks and refreshments and just relax and ideas would come to me 🙂

my english teacher told us to have someone else give you a topic then write for 5 minutes non stop without thinking about it or editing it as you go. didn’t really work for me but it was fun to do anyway

I do what Anna stated above, I try to write down all my thoughts. Even if my thoughts is all over the place, even if slightly off topic or not even in the ball park to being on topic. Then I take those thoughts and organize them into catagories. If I was to write on a topic of pizza, I would also chit chat with others about pizza and formulate a discussion. When I speak about it, I begin to form thoughts I don’t think I would have formed if just listening to that oh so wonderful brain of mine lol. Other times I google what others have wrote. Always becareful to not copy what another says, so researching to that depth is only done as last resort or to gain more info to write into my own idea or opinion. I seen issues with your site and know you got your work cut out for you to catch up. Stress can cause writer’s block too. Sometimes put on some music, yoga, coffee or have a discussion with someone. Sitting going “think think think” can cause writer’s block to get worse.

I found out that I’m in a burned out state. But then I just start blogging about things that I want to blog about. Fun things and not stuff I have to do. It seems that I got it back because I did 4 posts yesterday and I’m lining up posts today to schedule for throughout the week. I’m excited to get a bunch scheduled so I can enjoy the week leading up to Christmas more. Plus I need to wrap a ton of presents lol.
