I have a confession to make. I am jealous of my husband and our children. My husband was born with super long, thick, beautiful eye lashes. My son and daughter were fortunate to inherit his beautiful eye lashes. They are so perfect that I tell my daughter all the time that she barely needs any mascara.
I have tried to get my lashes to stand out more than they normally do. I have used products that help grow your eyelashes, which work but you have to continue to use the product (which can be pricey). I have also tried fake lashes but I end up getting the glue every where and find the hard to apply and remove.
So what is a girl to do who wants to make her lashes appear longer without piling on a ton of mascara?
One option is the Panasonic Heated Eyelash Curler. That’s right, HEATED Eyelash Curler.
I have to say I was intrigued when I received the pitch to review one of the curlers. The idea of something that is heated getting near my eyes doesn’t exactly sound like a good idea. It sounds a bit dangerous if you ask me. I have never had an issue with a Panasonic product in the past and I highly doubt Panasonic would make a dangerous product. Therefore I really wanted to try the Heated Eyelash Curler.
The Heated Eyelash Curler doesn’t look like a scary device. It actually looks like a bottle of mascara. In fact my teenage daughter thought it was mascara.
The first thing you need to do is insert an AA size battery. Then you are ready to go.
There are different ways you can use the Heated Eyelash Curler. It all depends on the look you are going for. You can find full directions for the various methods on the product page (linked above).
The unit does heat up but it’s tip (the part that goes on your lashes) is made so you don’t burn yourself. The tip is long and rounded with grooves cut into it. Your lashes fall into the groves (where the heat is) and that is what heats the lashes, not your skin.
The tip rotates but you don’t need to use that feature if you don’t want to. I actually don’t use the rotating feature. I prefer to apply the heated curler to the lash line and then gently move up to the tips. Other times I just use it to make the corner lashes stand out (l like that “doe-eyed” look).
The best way to describe how this product work is to think about a regular hair curler (one you would use to curl your hair). The heat applied to the hair makes it bend in the position you want it to. As soon as the hair cools it sets it’s self to stay that way. Just like you would use hairspray to “set” your curled hair, the mascara works in the same way. I think that helps to “set” the curl. Once you wash your make up off the lashes will return to normal.
Initially I had a hard time using the product. I think most of it had to do with worrying about burning myself or poking myself in the eye. It does take a little practice but once you get the idea it’s easy enough to do and will only add a couple of minutes to your beauty routine. If you already use a manual eyelash curler (on of those metal crimper things) then this will take up no more time then the manual product.
For the life of me I can’t figure out how to take eye pictures. I tried with my point and shoot camera and with my iPhone and I can’t get any decent shots of my eyelashes. I wanted to give you a before/after look. The pictures I did take don’t really show much of a difference but in person I can notice the difference. My daughter notices the difference too and she wants to use the product but I don’t share make up products (I don’t want to spread any kind of a germ/virus). I told her I can get her one for her birthday in a few months. With her super long eyelashes and the Panasonic Heated Eyelash Curler her lashes are going to look amazing!
Is this a product I use daily? No. But when I want to get dressed up or make myself look a bit better I am certainly going to use the Panasonic Heated Eyelash Curler to give my eyes that “wow factor”. It doesn’t make my lashes look like I’m wearing fake lashes, but it does make them look much prettier than they normally look.

This is awesome, but I really think I would find some way to burn my eye, eyelids or somewhere on my face. I’m just that smooth…
