Do you love horses? Does your child or grandchild love horses?
I grew up around horses. My older sister had a horse named Poco Loco (“Little Crazy” in Spanish), but she called him Poco. He was a beautiful horse. We had him for many years (we had a stable in our backyard). She was a member of the local 4-H Club and took him to many shows. Sadly, he passed away due to an ailment.
I love all animals, but horses always had a special place in my heart. I wanted a horse too, but my parents didn’t buy me one (my sister saved her own money to buy Poco and paid to take care of him). To make up for it I collected a lot of Breyer Horses and read a lot of books about horses.
For many people, owning a horse is simply not possible. This is especially true if you don’t own your own home with a lot of acres. Still, many children dream of one day having their own horse or pony.
If that special child in your life loves horses, you should check out PLAYMOBIL’s Horses of Waterfall playsets.
This eco-friendly product line consists of, on average, more than 80% sustainable materials. The sets are also complete with the iconic PLAYMOBIL attention-to-detail and provide hours of imaginative play.
I was sent some sets to review. Please excuse my photos. The lighting is not always the best in my condo.
I received the following sets.
I linked to each set on the PLAYMOBIL website for your convenience. These are non-affiliate links.
Horse Stall with Amelia and Whisper
When you own a horse, you need a stall to keep it in. You need a fenced in area where your horse can run around, as well as a barn to protect your horse against inclement weather, as well as a place to keep your horse supplies.
This set comes with a barn, fences, two horses (an adult and a foal), rider, dog, supplies and even two llamas (I was surprised about that).
In the above photos I tried to give you an idea of what the layout looked like. I am not sure if the fences are correct (it’s in a triangle shape), but I do believe that I put it together correctly.
The horses, llamas and dog have necks that move up and down.
Look at the attention to detail. They even include a tiny mouse (mice love to hide out in barns). Too cute!
The latches on the barn door and fenced area work too.
Talk about attention to detail, this set even comes with a wheelbarrow, shovel and horse poop. Yes, that’s right, horse poop. That is the one thing about having a horse that I don’t miss. Horses poop a lot.
You can even see the hay on the floor of the barn.
You’ll find other accessories in this set including foods, grooming equipment and vet supplies.
This set comes with the rider, Amelia, and her horse Whisper. Of course your child can re-name the characters if they’d like.
Whisper has long, flowing hair that your child can brush and style. The set comes with a special brush as well as accessories that can be placed in the horse mane and tail. Sadly, my fingers were not “working properly,” so to speak, lately (I need to see a surgeon about Carpal Tunnel surgery on both hands – sigh…). I was unable to put the accessories in the horse’s mane or tail, but they look easy enough to do, especially considering that this is a child’s toy.
I love that PLAYMOBIL even made it so the horse’s mouth opens to add to more realism to it. The horse can enjoy eating a carrot or two. Her legs move too.
This is an excellent set for this collection because it gives you all you need to get starter (barn, stable…). Of course the other sets go along with this set too. Just take a look at the other sets I received to review.
Washing Station with Isabella & Lioness
Horses need to be washed off. My sister used to wash Poco with a bucket of soapy water and a huge sponge. I’m sure she would have loved to have had a washing station to make things easier for her.
I do believe that you can actually use water with this set. There is a pump on the side as well as hallow hoses. I followed the directions, but I never added water to it. I cannot comment on that aspect of this toy, but as far as the rest of the set goes, this is just as wonderful as the other set I reviewed (above).
The washing station comes with the washing station (of course), as well as plenty of accessories. My favorite is the rolling cart with three pull out draws that swing out to the side. So much detail! You can keep some of the supplies in the cart and drawers too.
In the above photo you’ll see a fence to keep the blanket on to be used after the bath to keep the horse warm. You’ll also see a saddle pad (the pink thing) that goes over the horse before putting the saddle on. In real life you use saddle pads too. I love how PLAYMOBIL puts so much detail into every thing they do.
This set also comes with a brush and hair accessories for the horse(s).
I’m not sure what the white thing is in the photo above. Soap on a rope? I’m not really sure, but if I was a kid I’d use it like soap on a roap.
This set also comes with a beautiful horse and rider (Isabella and Lioness).
This set works along side the other sets in this collection. You can take other Horses of Waterfall horses to the washing station to get a quick bath. All the pieces are interchangeable with other sets.
Jumping Arena with Zoe & Blaze
The last set I received to review is a jumping set that includes a fence and hurdles for your horse to jump over. You can even change the height of the poles on the fence. I love that feature. Again, PLAYMOBIL thinks of everything and puts so much thought and great detail into everything they do.
This set also comes with a horse and rider (Zoe and Blaze).
Just like the other sets in the Horses of Waterfall playset collection, this set also includes a lot of extras including hair accessories, prize ribbons, a brush and so much more!
One of the extra’s that I couldn’t get to work correctly is a red balloon. In the photo on the box the balloon stands upright. The balloon I have kept flopping on it’s side. It wouldn’t stand upright no matter what I did (and it was assembled correctly). That is the first time ever that I couldn’t get a PLAYMOBIL thing to work the way it was intended. Maybe mine is a fluke?
As I mentioned earlier, all of these sets can be played with together and you can mix and match the riders. In addition, you can use PLAYMOBIL people, animals and accessories from other sets as well. That way boys can also enjoy the Horses of Waterfall (the characters are all girls). The Horse of Waterfall accessories (hats and such) work with boy figurines too.
Here are all three sets together. Ignore my cats in the background. They love when I put together PLAYMOBIL sets because they have a lot of things they can swat at. Ha Ha.
Be sure to read the entire assembly instruction book that comes with these sets. Each book also provides a backstory about the Horses of Waterfall, as well as the characters.
These are just a few of the Horses of Waterfall playsets available from PLAYMOBIL.
If you are interested in checking out the other playsets from this collection, or other PLAYMOBIL sets, visit the brand at PLAYMOBIL.us (notice it’s .us and not .com). You can also find the brand on social media. PLAYMOBIL sets can be purchased directly from the brand’s website, as well as many other retail locations.
What do you think about these playsets? Do you have a horse lover in your life?
