I am always on the look out for beauty products that not only make my make-up/beauty routine faster and easier, but also products that are effective and actually work.
The older I get, the more I regret that I didn’t take my skincare more seriously. I use to go to sleep at night with all my make-up on! What was I thinking? These days I wash my face the moment I get home from work. I’ll take off my shoes, wash my hands, kiss my husband “hello,” greet my cats and head on to the bathroom to wash my face. It’s THAT important to me.
In addition, the older I get the more I am picky about the products I use. I want products that not only work, but also help and look me feel my best.
One of my favorite reasons for doing reviews is that it opens me up to brands and products I might not otherwise get to know about. Even brands I am familiar with come out with products that might go under my “radar.” This is why I am always grateful for review opportunities that come my way.
Below are some recent products I received to review that will certainly make your beauty and make-up routine easier and more effective.
Hydrate your skin before or after makeup application with Curél Japanese Skincare’s Deep Moisture Spray.
Enjoy a simple skin refresh in an easy-to-use form with Curél® Deep Moisture Spray formulated specifically for dry, sensitive skin. This ultra-fine, ceramide-infused mist is an all-in-one face and body moisturizer that provides an instant boost of hydration while helping to replenish ceramides. Can be used over makeup.
I am very familiar with the brand Curél, and I have used their products over the years. In fact, I have a bottle of their Ultra Healing Lotion on my bathroom counter. I use it on my hands, legs (after I shave) and other rough spots on my body (elbows especially).
I use Asian skincare products. I have for years. I honestly didn’t know that Curél had a line of Japanese skincare products. I’ve very intrigued by that and fully intend on checking out more of their products.
This spray is actually a nice mist that you can quickly and easily spray on your face and body to give your skin and added boost of much needed moisture.
Initially I only used this one my body, because I wasn’t sure how it would feel on my face. After I finally sprayed it on my face, I realize that I had nothing to worry about. It actually feels very refreshing. I have used it on bare skin (freshly washed) as well as over make up. Normally I use it on my face after I wash my face (before and after my make-up). I have sprayed it on over make-up, and it was fine. I just prefer before/after make up on bare skin.
I like that I can spray it on the back of my shoulders and my back (hard to reach places) too.
So far I am enjoying this product. I love that I can quickly add moisturizer to my face instead of having to dip my hands into a jar to slather it on my skin. I just spray and I’m done. Easy peasy!
The spray retails for around $15.00.
Prime your skin with Naturopathica’s Manuka Honey Whipped Oil.
Featuring ultra-humectant Manuka Honey and antioxidant-rich Jojoba Oil, this rich hydrator transforms from a cream to an oil, locking in moisture and helping protect skin from outside pollutants.
I am familiar with Manuka honey. It’s a premium type of honey because it’s not readily available. It’s found in Australia and New Zealand, and is made from bees who gather the pollen for a specific bush only found in those countries.
Manuka honey is said to have healing powers and can help with inflammation. It’s also know to be antibacterial.
When I think “honey” I think of something thick and sticky. The idea of putting honey on my face sounded odd to me, but I was open to trying it. Besides, Naturopathica’s Manuka Honey product is a whipped oil (something else that I found interesting).
A little bit of this product goes a long way. One jar should last you a long time.
This product was not sticky at all. In fact, it absorbed rather quickly, which I was surprised about.
As per the product directions, you apply this after your other facial products and after your serum.
This really helps with moisturizing your skin. Where as the Curél is a might lightweight, every day type of moisturizer, the Naturopathica Manuka Honey product is more for a deep, intense moisturizing product. It also helps against environmental pollutants, which I found very interesting. That is not something that we normally think about, but the pollutants our skin faces every day can be very damaging in the long run. Kudos to the company for making a product that helps to protect our skin against something like that.
Your skin feels soft and almost “plump” (at least it does for me) after it absorbs into your skin.
This is a premium product ($75), so it’s not something everyone can afford. If you can, you should try it out for yourself.
Easily melt away makeup with Perfect One’s Smooth Cleansing Balm.
This award-winning cleansing balm is a powerful solution for deep pore cleansing. It effectively removes not only makeup but also unwanted dirt such as sebum, keratin, and keratin plugs that can lead to pore problems. The balm is so soft that it melts like oil at body temperature, allowing it to float and remove makeup and dirt from pores while minimizing friction.
I normally use a gel-based product to wash my face. I have used other types (creams, lotions) but I tend to stick with the gel.
I wasn’t sure how I’d like a balm facial cleanser. When I think “balm” I think of something thicky and waxy (like Chapstick).
To use, scoop out a small amount (just like with the above product, a little goes a long way). Let it “melt” in your hands (don’t worry, it’s not drippy or messy), then gently apply it to your face. Using circular motions, gently apply the product to your face. Then rinse the product off with cool or luke warm water. That’s it.
This works perfectly! It removed all my make-up leaving my face feeling fresh-out-of-the-shower clean. I like that! I also like that it rinse off without leaving behind any weird or sticky residue.
It did remove mascara, but I ended up getting some of it in my eye (which I didn’t like) so I opted to remove my mascara another way.
This product also left my face feeling great to the touch. I honestly didn’t expect that from a cleansing balm. I’m definitely impressed.
This product retails for around $24, which is not so bad, especially since you don’t need to use a lot of it.
All of these products can be found at various retail locations, including Amazon (many on Prime too!).
Have you tried any of these products? If so, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Feel free to leave a comment.
