Yes, believe it or not today, April 19, 2013 is National Garlic Day. I don’t know about you but I love garlic and use it often when I cook.
Did you know that garlic has health benefits? I have read various articles about garlic and they all talk about how garlic is actually good for you. I also read one article that said in order to gain maximum health benefits you’d need to eat 2 cloves per day. That might be garlic “overkill”. There are some countries where people eat 8-12 cloves per day, so it is possible. That’s A LOT of garlic.
Did you know that the average adult consumes 2.3 pounds of garlic each year?
Garlic is popular because it really brings out the flavor in most dishes. Some people even found a way to incorporate garlic into desserts. I have never tried a dessert with garlic as one of the ingredients before, have you?
Just in time to help you celebrate National Garlic Day, Lay’s has introduced a new chip – Lay’s Wavy Roasted Garlic and Sea Salt.
Lay’s sent me a bag of the new flavored chips to try out. WOW! Talk about flavorful.
The first couple of chips I had didn’t phase much, then the garlic kicked in. Yeah… these are garlic flavored. That is for sure. There is no mistaken that. But that is a good thing because I love garlic.
The sea salt adds just the right amount of saltiness to the chip, without competing with the garlic flavor.
The chips were a huge hit with my family. My kids have already asked me to pick up another bag.
National Garlic Day is not the only thing Frito-Lay is celebrating this month. They are also celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Lay’s Wavy.
In honor of their anniversary the brand is rolling out completely re-imagined packaging for the first time in the product line’s history. The packaging has a new modern look, featuring vibrant colors and a font that exudes the brand’s approachable and playful personality.
I love the new font. It’s pretty. 🙂
Look for the new packaging beginning this month. All of Lay’s Wavy flavors will have the new packaging.
Swing by your local grocery store and celebrate National Garlic Day with Lay’s Wavy Roasted Garlic and Sea Salt chips.
Do you like garlic? What is your favorite way to enjoy garlic? Feel free to comment and let me know.

Garlic and Sea Salt chips sound pretty darn good. I had never heard of National Garlic Day, but then again they have so many of these ‘days’ now. Like Grilled Cheese Day and Ice Cream Day.

Curse you Lays and your new garlic flavored chip! I don’t think I will able to walk past these and leave them on the shelf. Reminds me a bit of the garlic restaurants I frequented in California in the 90’s.
