Mother’s Day is this coming weekend. It seems like only yesterday we were celebrating the start of a new year. Now we’re celebrating mom (and those other special ladies in your life), and soon we’ll be celebrating the official start to summer.Time sure does fly.

Sadly, my mom passed away 14 years ago this upcoming December. I wish she was still around so I could thank her for all those times she was there for me. She was there for me through thick and thin, through sickness and good healthy, happiness and sadness, love and loss.

I miss her. I miss her terribly. I wish there was a way I could see her, even for just a moment, to thank her for all that she did for me. Most especially because I was not her biological child (biologically speaking she was my paternal grandmother, but she raised me, so she’s always been “mom” to me).

I’d like to think that I am a lot like my mom as far as loving and caring for my family.

I’ve received a lot of flowers over the years. I would have to say that this one was one of the more fragrant ones that I’ve received in a long time. Even before I unpackaged the arrangement I could smell it. The lovely scent lingered around our dining room (where I kept the flowers – on top of our dining room table) for a few days. It was very nice.

This bouquet features lavender roses, purple carnations, lavender and white daisy spray chrysanthemums, bupleurum, spiral eucalyptus, and leatherleaf fern. The flowers go perfectly with the delicate, square purple vase.

I love the vase because it can be repurposed after the flowers are gone. You can reuse it as a vase, or use it as a container. I was thinking of using this to house my make up. It’s much prettier than the rectangle plastic box my make up is currently sitting in.

The vase is a clear glass with purple violets on it. The white part (background) is a white, plastic insert that the flowers are sitting in. I suppose you could wash that out and reuse that too, but I don’t plan to use that part.
