Are you someone who enjoys a glass of wine or a beer after a long day at work? Is that how you like to relax and unwind?
I used to be a casual drinker when I was younger. By that I mean I would have a few cocktails when I was out with friends, or a couple of beers at a backyard barbecue. Sadly I take medication now that clearly states not to take alcohol with them. Since I need the medication for health reasons, I have no had an alcoholic beverage in about 20 years (no kidding!). Although I do miss it from time to time.
There are other ways you can relax and unwind that doesn’t involve wine, beer or other alcoholic beverages. You can read a book, telephone a friend, enjoy a cup of tea, take a bath, or go for a walk. There are actually a number of great ways to relax after a long day. Personally I enjoy chatting with my husband and watching a movie.
There are also natural methods to unwind. Take for example the the plant Kava. Have you hear of it before? Taking Kava is a natural way to unwind, perfect for those seeking a herbal alternative for stress relief. Normally it’s enjoyed as a tea.
Years ago friends of mine introduced me to Kava. My friend was really into natural and holistic living. Sadly, she wasn’t that great at creating a Kava tea, and she used too much of it. The first time I tried Kava, wow… it was a trippy experience. I have since had Kava tea made the correct way with the right amount of the Kava plant.
Kava is well known for it’s calming properties. It’s also a part of traditional ceremonies and cultural practices throughout the South Pacific Islands.
The brand Mitra-9 offers consumers another way to enjoy Kava, in the form of flavored seltzers. Their beverages are made with premium Kava, sourced from the rich, volcanic soils of the Pacific islands.
The brand’s seltzers are available in Lemonade, Strawberry Watermelon, Orange Dreamsicle, and Coconut Lychee, to name a few.
Mitra-9’s flavored seltzers are gluten-free, non-GMO, vegan and contain no caffeine.

Mitra-9 sent me a variety of their Kava drinks to try out for myself.
Since I did have a trippy experience with Kava a long, long time ago, I still try out Kava carefully and slowly to make sure I don’t have that euphoric feeling again. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Kava is legal in the United States, but you should check with your doctor first if you take medications such as anti-depressants and anxiety medications. You might want to ask your doctor too if you have any medical conditions.
Normally I am not a fan of flavored seltzers. There is something about seltzer water that I really don’t like. However, these beverages don’t come off as being your typical seltzer drinks. For me, they taste more like a soda, but not a sugary-sweet soda. They taste like a homemade, natural soda, if that makes any sense?
The flavors are really tasty. I’m still on the fence with the Orange Dreamsicle. It’s not my personal favorite. The Strawberry Watermelon is SO GOOD! It’s clean and fruity. It really tastes like actual strawberries and watermelon, not in an artificial way.
Kava is normally gross tasting. It’s very earthy, almost like you are drinking dirt (that has been my experience drinking it in tea form). I was interested to see if flavors could mask that gross taste. It does!
I was surprised by the Coconut Lychee. That is my second favorite. In fact, I think it’s right there in the #1 spot with the Strawberry Watermelon.
I started to feel a calming effect within mere minutes of drinking this. It happened quickly. I was surprised.
For me, I drink about half a can. That is all I need to feel calm and less stressed. I have yet to finish an entire can in one sitting. If I can get a great effect with half a can, it only helps to stretch them out longer. The only thing is that next day the fizz from the seltzer is gone, but that is okay. It still tastes good.
For me, these work best a couple of hours before bedtime. I find that they help me to fall asleep faster. I don’t know if that is just me or one of the perks of the product, but for someone who has a hard time falling asleep and staying asleep, I’ll use what I can. I rather not take prescription medications to fall asleep. I also don’t like melatonin (it gives me a huge headache in the morning).
Kava is not for everyone. Not every likes the effect it has on their body. Mitra-9 has 4-packs you can try before looking into larger quantities. The brand has 4, 12 and 24 packs. They also have a variety pack of flavors. The variety pack is available in 8 and 12 cans.
Mitra-9’s Kava drinks are a great substitute for alcohol. You get that same soothing, calming effect but without the alcohol. This is great for non-drinkers who still want to enjoy themselves with friends.
I like that this beverage doesn’t make me jittery or paranoid too. I just feel refreshed and calm.
I was pleased with this product. I would buy it again for sure.
I was also sent some of the brand’s Kratom products. I have not tried them as of yet. I believe Kratom is a bit stronger as far as the effect compared to Kava. I know that people can use Kratom for pain. I belong to a few neuropathy groups on Facebook and some people have talked about using Kratom for pain. Since I suffer from that pain, I’m very tempted to try them out. Mitra-9 has some interesting flavors. However, I am holding off trying them until I can consult with my doctor, just to be on the safe side. I don’t want it to interfere with any of the medication I am taking.
If you are interested in Kava and/or Kratom, and would like to learn more about the brand, visit Mitra9.com. The brand also sells other products.
Mitra-9 can be found on social media too.
