As I write this post one of my kids is at school taking a final exam while my other one is lounging around on his bed playing on his computer. There are only a few short days left of school (final exams) before it’s officially summer vacation.
Summer is a great time to explore, visit, play, relax and do just about anything and everything you want. When I was a child I spent my summer’s visiting relatives and playing outside. I was never home. I was on the go-go-go all the time.
As a parent I do know that there are times when kids actually get bored during the summer. Not always, but it does happen. There are also times when the weather is too dangerous to be outside and your kids are stuck inside trying to entertain themselves. That is why keeping a supply of fun movies on hand is a “must”. Movies are a great way to keep kids entertained when they are stuck inside. They are also great to have on long car trips. Personally I enjoy having a Family Movie Night with my family. It’s a fun way to reconnect and bond with one another. I know when my kids are adults and one their own they will look back fondly on our Family Movie Nights.
TODAY (June 11, 2013) Disney is releasing three Blu-ray/DVD sets that are ideal for keeping the kids entertained during the summer month, or for your special Family Movie Night.
Lilo & Stitch 2 Movie Collection
I loved the movie Lilo & Stitch the first time it came out. I haven’t seen it in years. For some reason my kids have never seen the movie, but they did meet Lilo & Stitch when we were at Disney 10+ years ago.
My husband has a niece who used to look exactly like Lilo. 🙂
Lilo and Stitch is the story of Lilo, a lonely little girl, and Stitch the mischievous little creature from outer space. When Stitch crash-lands in Hawaii, Lilo adopts him as her pet, but he soon turns her world upside down. Stitch takes Hawaii by storm, wreaking havoc and hanging ten while he evades the alien bounty hunters who are after him, and also learning about loyalty and friendship. Featuring six original Elvis Presley songs, “Lilo and Stitch” is fun for the entire family.
The laughter continues in the hysterical sequel Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch. As Stitch settles into life with his human family it appears his molecular makeup is out of whack and his friendship with Lilo is threatened as a result. Lilo and her friends must find a way to restore his “goodness” level before he ruins everything, including Lilo’s big hula competition – the same competition her mother won years before.
Discover that “ohana” means family, and celebrate the unbreakable bonds of friendship like never before with these two unforgettable movies on Disney Blu-ray for the first time!
Lilo & Stitch is such a sweet movie. I don’t know why we never added it to our movie collection (we have now!). It’s a fun movie. Stitch is a bit nuts, but Lilo is absolutely darling. I ♥ the first movie. The second one (part 2) is OK. It’s not as good as the original but it’s still fun to watch.
My daughter thinks Stitch is adorable and asked if they still make Stitch plush toys. I’m not sure. I’ll have to look that up for her.
Here are a couple of clips from the movies that you might enjoy.
Atlantis: The Lost Empire and Milo’s Return
I have seen just about every Disney movie ever made. For some odd reason Atlantis slipped under my radar (no pun intended). I’m glad I finally had the opportunity to see the film as well as a sequel to the film.
This must-own 2-Movie Collection is filled with stunning visual effects that come to life like never before in digitally restored high definition picture and sound. These captivating stories of friendship and teamwork are available as a 3-disco Blu-ray Combo Pack which includes both films on a single Blu-ray disc plus each film on individual DVDs.
Set a course for adventure as Milo Thatch and his fearless crew dive into the mysteries of the sea. The group’s underwater expedition brings them face-to-face with gigantic sea monsters, spectacular spirits and the mythical land of Atlantis while they discover the power of friendship and teamwork. Loaded with thrills and stunning visual effects, this sensational 2-Movie Collection takes audiences on an unforgettable voyage they’ll want to experience over and over again!
These movies don’t come off as being typical Disney films. I guess maybe it’s because the people in these films are a bit non-Disney looking (if you know what I mean?).
I wasn’t 100% sure if I’d like these films or not, but I wanted to see them none the less.
Both films reminded me of something you would see on a Saturday morning (Saturday morning cartoons). Honestly, I didn’t find the characters very appealing. I guess it’s because I’m spoiled by adorable characters seen in most Disney films.
I will say that both movies were entertaining. They certainly have A LOT of action to them.
I think these movies might appeal more toward boys than girls. Girls tend to gravitate towards cute things, and there is nothing cute about anything in these movies. To me they have “boy” written all over them.
My husband had never seen Atlantis either. He also said they don’t strike him as Disney films.
Here are a couple of clips from the films.
The Emperor’s New Groove & Kronks New Groove
I have seen the Emperor’s New Groove. I thought it was a funny movie. The characters are so silly and quirky. It’s hard not to laugh at the cheesy humor. I have never seen the second film, Kronks New Groove, so I was excited to check that one out.
The fun begins with The Emperor’s New Groove, featuring an all-star cast and Academy Award®-nominated music by Sting (Best Music, Original Song, Sting, 2000). When the young and spoiled Emperor Kuzco (voice of David Spade) is transformed into a llama by his sinister advisor Yzma (voice of Eartha Kitt) and her henchman Kronk (voice of Patrick Warburton), it takes a thoughtful peasant named Pasha (voice of John Goodman) to restore the kingdom and show Kuzco just how much fun it is to be true to yourself.
Then audiences can continue the fun with Kronk’s New Groove. The outrageous sequel stars Yzma’s hilarious henchman Kronk in a riotous adventure that’s filled with hysterical mayhem and mishaps. Kronk cooks up a get-rich quick scheme to impress his Dad. But when things go wrong, Kronk kicks into comical high gear and discovers that the true riches in life are his friends and being “true to your groove.”
These two comedy classics are king-size fun for the entire family and better than ever on Disney Blu-ray!
Fun! Fun! Fun! Both of these films are a lot of fun to watch. I would have to say out of all three movie collections these movies are the ones everyone in my family laughed at the most, including my hard to impress teens.
Both films have the same Saturday morning cartoon look and feel to them, but you can still tell they are Disney films. This set is a must have, especially for long, boring car trips. They will have your kids laughing all the way to your destination.
Enjoy a couple of clips from the films.
All three movies sets are available TODAY where ever movies are sold.
Have you seen any (or all) of these films? Do you have a favorite? Are there any of these movies you haven’t seen that you are looking forward to seeing? Feel free to leave a comment.
