I like to have a clean home. I hate cleaning, but I like the way a clean home makes me feel. Even when my home is a little dirty or untidy it stresses me out. Once I know my home is clean from top to bottom I am a much happier, relaxed person.
Part of having a clean home is having a clean SMELLING home. That is easier said than done when you have five cats, a dog and teenagers (our fish don’t make smells to my knowledge). I tossed my kids into the mix because they tend to be messy and leave sweaty sneakers and dirty clothes lying around. Thank goodness I can just shut the bedroom door.
Trying to keep my home clean and free of pet smells is an on-going chore. I clean the litter box out probably a dozen times a day. I also make sure our dog stays clean and I like to keep the pets off the furniture as much as possible so as to keep odors and hair from getting all over everything.
One thing that I used to love to use was scented carpet sprays, foams and powders. I love how my home smelled after I used them. Sadly I had to stop using products like that for the sake of our youngest cat Bella. With her severe asthma certain things trigger an attack. I had to replace a lot of cleaning products because of it. I even had to do away with certain air fresheners, candles and other items that I used to keep my home smelling clean and fresh. Some things she’s totally OK with. Other things trigger attacks.
I resorted to cleaning odors out of my carpet with baking soda. While it does do a great job I do miss the smell a scented carpet powder would leave behind.
Sometimes I drizzle a little essential oil into the baking soda box and let it sit for a couple of hours and then sprinkle it on my carpet. That sometimes leaves behind a scent.
A while back I was sent a product from the company Kids ‘N’ Pets to try out. They sent me two of their Kids ‘N’ Pets Deep Clean Carpet Cleaning Powders to try out. One was Fresh Citrus scent and the other was Spring Green scent.
Just like baking soda, Kids ‘N’ Pets Deep Clean Carpet Cleaning Powders are suppose to help remove dirt and odors from your carpet and leave behind a fresh scent. The power is suppose to help absorb and remove pet odors as well as smoke, mold, mildew, musty smells, cooking smells and more.
The Kids ‘N’ Pets Deep Clean Carpet Cleaning Powders are non-toxic, biodegradable and cruelty free. That sounds good to me. I know the product would be safe to use around my family and pets.
They even included the power of Oxygen Activated dirt removers to help remove ground in dirt.
I wasn’t overly keen on the Spring Green scent. I just didn’t like it. I used it, but if given the choice I wouldn’t pick that scent again. The Fresh Citrus scent was nicer, although I don’t think citrus is a good scent for a carpet cleaner. I would have opted more for a more floral or “earthy” scent. Citrus, for me, is a better scent for cleaning bathrooms and kitchens, not living rooms and bedrooms.
The powder went down fine and was sucked into our vacuum with no problem. As far as the scent it only stayed around for a short time.
I can’t tell if it helped with the deep down dirt, but I think it did help with the odors. I didn’t smell pet smells after using it.
I think what I like most about the Kids ‘N’ Pets Deep Clean Carpet Cleaning Powders is that it allows me to have the same power of baking soda (as far as absorbing odors) with the added scent. I just hope that Kids ‘N’ Pets makes other scents for their carpet powder.
I also like that it DIDN’T trigger any asthma attacks with our cat Bella. Other carpet powders, sprays and/or foams did. So that is another “plus” as far as I’m concerned.
You can find Kids ‘N’ Pets Deep Clean Carpet Cleaning Powders at Amazon.com, DrugStore.com and Walmart.com.

This would be great for my mom. Her dog is like your cat Bella. She has bad asthma, so we have to be very careful what cleaners we use on her carpet. Thanks for the review.

I also stopped using scented carpet products once I got a dog. I was concerned over any chemicals and how it might affect her skin. I used to love to put down a foam cinnamon apple spray. Now I just spray the room with concentrated apple spray.
I am due for a carpet cleaning. And will need to keep up with it once done. Haven’t seen these products in stores yet.
