I consider myself VERY blessed when it comes to my husband. Not only is he a kind, sweet and loving man with a great big heart, he also has a fantastic sense of humor AND he willingly helps me clean. If I ask him to scrub the toilet for me or clean the kitchen he’ll do it with no argument or hesitation.
Shh… I’ll let you in on a little secret too. We’ve been married 16+ years and I have only had to do the laundry ONCE. And even that one time I didn’t have to, I wanted to do it to surprise him. We live on the top floor condo and the laundry is in the basement. Aside from the fact carrying the laundry up and down the stairs is hard work, but my husband doesn’t want me in the basement for safety reasons. A couple of times strangers have been hanging out on our basement (once it was teenager partying and the other time was two men hanging out in the laundry room IN THE DARK late at night).
Needless to say my friends all ask me if my hubby could speak with their husband and encourage them to be more like him. He does have brothers but they are the polar opposite of him.
According to a 2011 study, men take on nearly 1/3 of household chores. Women do most of the work, but at least men are pitching in more and more. That same study also suggested that men sometimes exaggerate how much they really pitch in at home too.
Do men REALLY help out around the house that much? Or do they say they help out more then they actually do?
In order to bring this debate to the public and see what they had to say, Swiffer, a pioneer and innovator in cleaning, is asking men and women to talk about how chores are really divided. They also want to celebrate those men who are already doing their fair share with videos, e-cards and even PRIZES!
The campaign is called Man Up, Clean Up. You can find it on the Swiffer Facebook page (look for the Man Up, Clean Up” tab). You can also visit the app page,
https://apps.facebook.com/manupcleanup/
The last time I visited the app page 93,854 men have “manned up” to cleaning. When you “man up” you are automatically entered to win prizes too.
You have to watch the videos. They are funny! I love the one called “A Guy’s Guide to Arranging Pillows”. đ
The e-cards are funny too. Feel free to send them to the men in your life.
Men don’t have to just clean for the ladies in their lives. They can do it for themselves too. After all, men should want their big screen TV to be dusted off so it looks it’s best for the big game, or keep their “man cave” clean for their friends who stop by.
There are plenty Products in the Swiffer line-up that offer a deep clean to pass even the closest of inspections include:
Swiffer 360° Dusters: Feature Dust-Lock Adhesive technology that combines textured dusting strips with thousands of dust locking fibers to clean better than a feather duster, even in tight places.
Swiffer WetJet Extra Power Pad: Has the scrubbing power of Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and powers through up to two times more dried-on dirt and grime with less effort than a mop and bucket.
Swiffer Sweeper: Allows you to sweep and mop with one simple tool using two types of cleaning cloths (wet & dry), and with Swiffer Sweeperâs 360° swivel head, you can get into hard-to-reach places, such as under the refrigerator, on the ceiling and even in corners and edges where brooms and mops canât always go.
Swiffer SweeperVac: Combines the popular Swiffer Dry Cloth with the power of a cordless, rechargeable vacuum cleaner to clean up dirt and crumbs and sweep away pet hair.
To learn more about Swiffer products visit www.Swiffer.com. You can also find them on Facebook and Twitter.
Does the man in your life do his part to help clean up? Swiffer wants to know. Feel free to share your thoughts on Twitter using the hashtag #ManUpCleanUp. Be sure to include @Swiffer in the tweet so they can see it too.
Swiffer would like to send three winners a Swiffer Duster to help encourage the man in your life to Man Up, Clean Up.
This giveaway is open to US residents only and will end on December 12, 2012 at 11:59 PM (EST). The winners will be chosen at random using a random number generator from all eligible entries. The winners will be notified via e-mail and will have three days to reply or a new winner will be chosen in their place.
To enter please leave a comment on this post and tell me if the man (or men) in your life do their fair share when it comes to house cleaning, or do they need to Man Up, Clean Up?
For extra entries you can use the Rafflecopter widget (below) but you must complete the initial entry requirement or additional entries won’t qualify.
