Now available on all viewing platforms (Blu-ray, DVD, Ultra 4K and digital) is the action thriller The Beekeeper.
The Beekeeper stars Jason Statham, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Josh Hutcherson, Bobby Naderi, Phylicia Rashad and Jeremy Irons.
Eloise Parker (Rashad) is a retired school teacher living the quiet life in the country. She rents out a barn on her property to a loner name Adam Clay. Just like Parker, Clay also leads a quiet and unassuming life as a beekeeper.
Parker gets scammed out of millions of dollars that belongs to her charity organization. Distraught, Parker commits suicide. Clay is the one who finds her body.
Clay is cleared of her death after it was ruled a suicide, but that is not enough for Clay. He wants to seek out vengeance on those who caused her to end her life. This leads to him having to face off against the CIA, shady individuals, and even the U.S. government.
He might have been a quiet beekeeper, but don’t let that fool you. He has skills that no one expected.
Will Clay take revenge on what happened to Parker, or will he find himself a victim instead? To find out, check out he film The Beekeeper. Look for it where ever movies are sold/rented.
If you are a fan of Jason Statham movies, you know that his characters can totally kick-butt. Did you know he’s a martial artist? That could explain why he tends to get type-casted in high octane action movies. He might be an action star, but he’s also got some comedic chops too. I always loved the back-and-for exchanges between him and his fellow Fast and the Furious co-star Dwayne Johnson in their roles of Hobbs and Shaw.
Honestly, I cannot comment on anything especially out of the normal for Statham in the role of Adam Clay. It’s typical of other characters in movies he’s played. All I can say is that I would NEVER want to get on his bad side, or have him seek out revenge on me. You KNOW he’ll always win in the end. Ha Ha.
I was pleasantly surprised to see Phylicia Rashad in this film. It’s nice to see her pop up from time to time.
I had a hard time seeing Josh Hutcherson as such a scumbag (for lack of a better description). Well, what I really mean is that I would have never thought to cast him in this role. I didn’t find him convincing enough. If anything I found it a bit amusing. He’s not a thug. I still see him as the kid like in the films Journey to the Center of the Earth and RV. Drug abusing, entitled, bratty thug is not really a good “look” on him (I just wasn’t feeling it). But that is just me. The filmmakers felt he was ideal for the role of Derrick Danforth.
The movie kept me and my husband’s attention from the start. My husband is usually the one to “check out” of watching movies long before I do. I’m one to watch until the end. In this case he watched the film all the way until the end credits started to role. He joking said that Statham is a “man’s man.” Ha Ha.
The Beekeeper is from Amazon MGM Studios and released by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.
The film has a run time of an hour and forth-five minutes and is rated “R” due to violence, drugs, sexual references and four language.
Below is the film’s trailer for your enjoyment. It’s the theatrical trailer. The film is no longer in theaters.
Did you see The Beekeeper? If so, what did you think of the film? Feel free to comment and share your thoughts. I always love to hear from readers.
