Now available on Blu-ray, DVD and digital is the hilarious family film, Paddington 2.
The live action comedy is a follow up to Paddington, which came out in 2015 (I can’t believe it was that long ago).
Paddington 2 picks up where the other movie left off.
Paddington is enjoying life with the Brown family. Even the community love having Paddington as a neighbor. Paddington is very helpful and does a lot for his community.
Aunt Lucy’s 100th birthday is fast approaching, and Paddington wants to give her a very special gift. He finds a beautiful pop-up book about London, England, at Samuel Gruber’s antique shop.
In order to afford the book, Paddington has to take on many odd jobs around his community.
When Paddington goes to purchase the book he finds that it is stolen. Paddington tries to catch the book’naper but to no avail. Much to his dismay, he is framed for stealing the book and is sent to prison.
While in prison Paddington tries to make friends with the other inmates. He makes a few friends including the prison chef named Knuckles.
The Brown family does not believe that Paddington stole the book, so while he’s in prison they try and figure out who stole the book so that Paddington can be cleared of the crime.
Will the Brown family find the culprit? And what is so special about a pop-up book that would cause someone to steal it? Will Paddington be free once again? To find out you need to pick up a copy of Paddington 2. Look for it where ever movies are sold. It’s also available digitally.
I’ve seen the first movie and I must say that in my opinion Paddington 2 is funnier. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the first film too, but I think Paddington 2 is much more funnier than it’s predecessor.
First and foremost, the special effects in this film are near seamless. It’s hard to believe that Paddington is not some actor in a bear suit. He fits in so well with his live action surroundings.
The movie is very silly at times – but in a good way, not a “cheesy” way. Both children AND adults can find a lot of things to laugh at in this film.
I also think that the film has a sweetness to it, not just a bunch of silly humor. Take for example how Paddington enjoys helping out the people in his community. He also worked a bunch of odd jobs to raise money to buy Aunt Lucy a very special gift. So mixed in with all the humor (and cuteness) you find a really sweet story too.
Hugh Grant does a great job as the “man-you-love-to-hate” neighbor and movie villain.
I know this film might be marketed towards children and families, but as an adult, I found this movie very enjoyable and a delight to watch.
I wonder if there will be a Paddington 3? I Googled it and saw some articles saying there is one planned, but most likely not until 2020. Nonetheless, I’d go see it if/when it came out.
The film does have some fun bonus features worth checking out.
