Available today on DVD is Tom Holland’s Twisted Tales. The DVD features a collection of nine off the wall tales from the man who brought us Child’s Play, Fright Night, Psycho II and HBO’s Tales from the Crypt (I loved the Crypt Keeper – he was funny).
Tom Holland dares you to join him for nine nerve-shredding, totally Twisted Tales. Serving up a mind-bending assortment of the macabre, it’s an anthology of darkness and dread fine-tuned to keep you on the edge of your seat. A new drug offers users a glimpse of the future… with beastly consequences. A murderous husband is stalked by his own cell phone. A jilted lover wreaks satanic vengeance. The nightmarish action then leads to worlds haunted by dark magic, demonic possession, vampires, witches and more in this seriously freaky festival of fear.
I love horror movies. I honestly haven’t been truly frightened by a film since I was a child, but I have come across a few that have got my adrenaline pumping and had me on the edge of my seat.
This DVD contains nine mini-movies/tales and runs for about two hours and twenty minutes. You’ll see a few familiar faces scattered throughout.
Although this is classified as a horror movie, there is nothing scary about any of these tales. Not unless you are easily freaked out. I found each story to be amusing and funny, in a quirky sort of way.
Just like each tale is introduced by the Crypt Keeper, each episode in Twisted Tales is introduced by Tom Holland himself. He gives you an introduction so you have a glimpse into what the episode is about.
One of the episodes as different chapters to it.
I found the collection of tales to be twisted, but certainly not scary. Not in the slightest.
Aside from foul language from time to time and mild violence, there is really not much wrong with these tales. The DVD is not rated but I would probably rate it a PG-13. I wouldn’t let a 10 or 12 year old watch this, but I’d be OK with my 14 and 17 year old watching it. Sadly they probably hear worse language at school.
One of the episodes does show some sensual dancing and there is some graphic violence (like a lady cutting off her fingers) but nothing too bad (not like The Walking Dead).
I even noticed a spelling error. 🙂
There are a few bonus features on the DVD which all pertain to the “making of…” for several of the episodes.
The DVD is entertaining, but not for the reasons intended. I wasn’t scared by any of the tales. I just found them to be funny – entertaining – but funny.
Look for Tom Holland’s Twisted Tales where ever movies are sold.

Sounds kinda cheesy, lol. My 14-year-old son would definitely love this though.
