Thanks goodness for Netflix!
If there is one thing I dislike about the summer (aside from the heat and humidity) is the never ending repeats. I do appreciate watching repeats of my favorite shows (The Walking Dead, The Middle…), it does get tiring after a while and we crave something new. That is where Netflix comes in. Whenever we see is nothing on television that night we grab our Apple TV remote and log on to Netflix to find something to watch.
My husband and I make it a point to watch a horror movie every Friday or Saturday night. We enjoy the genre but most horror movies these days are more silly and entertaining rather than scary. We watch them to laugh – not to be scared. There is a plethora of horror flicks on Netflix, so we have plenty to choose from.
Netflix has proven it’s self to be a powerhouse when it comes to family entertaining. I know several people who watch Netflix exclusively (meaning they choose not to have cable or satellite T.V.). We could probably do that, but my husband lives and breathes football, so we need network television.
Netflix just announced some new programming that might be of interest to some readers. These new shows are primarily for children, however there are plenty of new things for adults on the horizon too.
Here is thew news, fresh off the press from the Netflix Television Critics Association panel:
Netflix is releasing a variety of new preschool titles this year such as Kazoops, Ask The Storybots and Julie’s Greenroom.
Beat Bugs, premiering August 3, is welcoming Aloe Blacc, Robbie Williams, Frances and The Lumineers to its already celebrated set of singing talent that will help introduce the beloved catalogue of Beatles classics to a new generation. Covers by Rod Stewart, Jennifer Hudson and Tori Kelly will be featured in Season 2, coming this November.
Keep the sing-along going with a new Motown animated series coming soon to Netflix! From the creators of Beat Bugs, the yet to be titled show will have a contemporary take on Motown classics. With Smokey Robinson advising as Executive Music Producer, the show will bring 52 Motown songs to life, including those made famous by Robinson, Marvin Gaye, The Jackson 5, Lionel Richie, The Supremes, The Temptations and Stevie Wonder.
Some adults will be thrilled to hear that Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, coming to Netflix on November 25. I know there are a lot of fans of the show out there.
What do you think about the new shows?

I spend too many hours streaming on Netflix. Right now I’m watching Shameless (US Version). I plan to watch Shameless (UK Version) next.

Our Screen viewing time is about 50 percent Netflix now. Right now we are watching the 4 seasons of THE KILLING. Boy was it hard in the first two seasons to figure out who really killed Rosie, even for the detectives. Were we ever surprised! Now I imagine the next two seasons is about a prior case being intertwined with a new case and trying to figure out who the killer is there. Then we’ll have to see if one of the prior detectives comes back as a detective.
