Wow! Have you seen the new cover of Rolling Stone magazine featuring the main characters from the hit HBO series True Blood?
Rolling Stone magazine is infamous for unique cover art featuring famous faces. Some covers are amazing while others really “push the envelope”. I’ve enjoyed a few covers (Johnny Depp!) and some will always stand out in my mind like the one that featured Yoko Ono and a naked John Lennon, or the one featuring Janet Jackson with some one’s hands conveniently covering up her “girls” (if you know what I mean).
The most recent issue features the main characters of True Blood. I have not seen the series yet but I have heard that its very popular. Honestly I am surprised I have not seen it yet. I love a good horror movie so I’m sure I would find a series about vampires to be right up my alley.
I was shocked by the cover. I don’t know what to think. The nudity is one thing (I’m sort of used to that with Rolling Stone magazine) but the blood splattered all over them. Umm…eww…that’s just weird.
What do YOU think about the cover? I’d love to hear my readers thoughts. Do you like it? Love it? Hate it?
Are you a fan of True Blood? If so I would love to know your thoughts about the show. I’m getting tired of repeats and would love to watch something new on TV for a change.

Well, I think it sure attracts attention like a crime scene would! Do we really need more negative images?!

I watched an episode or two of the first season of True Blood and did not like it. It was much too intense for me (in many ways). The funny thing, I was told not to let that dictate whether or not I read the Sookie Stackhouse books. I read the first of the series and really liked it.
That cover is too much. Yes, it goes with the show, but the magazine is not simply for fans of the show.

Simply put, “YUCK.”

I haven’t watched the show and don’t know much about it. The magazine cover, although I don’t like it, is probably accomplishing exactly what it was meant to–get people talking. You know what they say about “no such thing as bad publicity.” I personally think it’s going too far and wouldn’t want young children to be exposed to it–at the grocery checkout for example.

The cover makes perfect sense for the show. It’s kind of artistic in a way. And I typically don’t like gore.

I think I’m in the minority, but I do not find blood sexy. While I agree it fits the show, it’s just not my thing and I really hope it’s not in the racks at the grocery store for my 8 yr old to see.
