I encouraged my kids to read by reading with them! They also saw me reading when they were little. My freshman in college actually bought a book to read for fun the other day. My 8th grader is just like her mom, her nose is always in a book.

We have a rule where if a child brings you a book, you stop and read to them! That way the kids know how important reading is to us.
