Informercials. They have been around for as long as I can remember. From Ginsu Knives, and from the George Forman Grill to Proactiv.
An infomercial is essentially a long commercial. I resembles a television program, but it’s essentially just a commercial to sell a product or service.
Admit it, you’ve either thought about purchasing something from an infomercial or you actually “bit the bullet” and made that call. I can’t tell you how many times I wanted to pick up the phone and purchase a Ron Popeil Pasta Maker when I was younger. Fresh, homemade pasta you can make in the comfort of your own home quickly and easily? Would wouldn’t want one (ha ha).
I guess as with anything else, some things purchased off an infomercial are just a waste of money. However, there is a flip side. Sometimes such products are in fact outstanding purchases.
There are plenty of beauty products seen on television that make a lot of promises that most cannot keep. There is no product out there that can help you to turn back the hands of time. For that you’d need to look into plastic surgery and other cosmetic procedures. Most people (myself included) either cannot afford cosmetic procedures, or prefer not to go under the knife.
I have seen commercials/infomercials for a product called Plexaderm many times over the past several years. Plexaderm is a topical product that is suppose to reduce bags and wrinkles from around our eyes.
Here is one such commercial.
As you can see, the results in the commercial (yes, it’s a commercial, not a real television show) look really amazing. There are some days when the bags under my eyes look horrific, and the older I get the wrinkles around my eyes (actually, my entire face) get more and more bothersome.
I know you can’t trust what you see on television, which is why I never took the plunge and purchase Plexaderm.
A recently had the opportunity to try out Plexaderm for myself. I will admit that I was super excited for the opportunity. Finally, I could see first hand how much of the commercial is “smoke and mirrors,” and how much is legitimated.
Plexaderm comes in tiny white vials. I thought it was in a single tube. I was almost disappointment when I when I first opened the box because I thought I could only use the product a handful of times before all the vials were used up, when it fact each little vial contains enough Plexaderm for 2-3 applications. So each box would last about a month if you used it daily, and was able to get three uses out of each vial (they are resealable after each use).
To use Plexaderm, simply apply a tiny amount under your eye, and let the product do it’s “magic” for about ten minutes. Try not to move your face around too much during this time.
As the product dries, you can feel your skin tightening up. It’s not a bad feeling. You can just feel your skin getting tighter.
I’ll be honest, I didn’t hold out too much hope that the product would work… but OH MY GOODNESS! It did!
I’m not one to take photos of myself AT ALL. In fact, I run and hide from the camera. I hate how I look. I also would never show my picture with no make up on. My skin is blotchy and gross.
Below is my first time using Plexaderm.
These images are 100% untouched. There is no photo editing at all.
As you can see, the wrinkles around my eyes in the bottom photo looks a lot smoother than the top photo.
This wasn’t just a fluke. Here are before and after photos from another time I used Plexaderm.
Ewww… I wish it helped with those darn age spots!
My experience with Plexaderm is that is does work (at least for me). I was pleasantly surprised by the results. Crazy!
One thing I have noticed however is that you need to keep your face still during the ten minutes that it’s setting up. If you move your face around you’ll see creases when your skin was moving after the Plexaderm has completely finished setting up.
Another thing I’ve noticed is that if you apply any product AFTER the Plexaderm (serum, moisturizer, make up…) it will negate the results of the Plexaderm. Another words, if you add a moisturizer on top of it, the Plexaderm won’t have the same results.
Plexaderm needs to be applied to a clean, dry face. That’s fine, but if I am applying it before I plan on going to work or on a “date night” with my husband, I want to apply moisturizer, sunscreen and make up. There are times where I don’t apply anything on top of it. Take for example this past Sunday. My husband and I went to run some errands. I didn’t care about putting on make up, so I went “fresh faced.” I use the Plexaderm around my eyes, and I applied moisturizer everywhere EXCEPT where I applied the Plexaderm.
Plexaderm is having a Mother’s Day sale too!
If you are interested in learning more about this product and other products by Plexaderm, visit the brand’s official website at PlexadermDirect.com. You can also find the brand on social media. Their links are found on the bottom of the brand’s website.
They currently have a special where you can try Plexaderm (6 individual applications) for $14.95 (fee shipping and processing). That is a great way to “try before you buy,” so to speak.
Do I think Plexaderm works? Yes. Is it 100%? No (as mentioned, adding products and make up on top of it seems to lessen it’s effect). Would I purchase it again? Yes. I’d love to have this on hand just in case I need to look my very best.
Have you tried Plexaderm? If so, what has been your experience with the product? Feel free to comment and share your thought. I always love ot hear from readers.
