I have very thick hair. I always have. When I was younger my hairdresser (my brother in law’s sister) referred to my hair as a “lion’s mane” because it was so thick and lush. Sadly the years have taken it’s toll on my hair. It’s still thick, just not as thick as it used to be. Plus it tends to get brittle and course if I don’t keep up with regular haircuts (which I almost never do).
Because my hair is thick, and long (until recently – I have since lopped off several inches), the only way to style my hair and remove knots and tangles was with a wide tooth comb. I would never, ever think about using a brush on my hair. The only brushes I’ll use are the round ones on occasion when I am blow drying and styling my hair.
When I was younger I could never use a brush. It wasn’t possible with my thick hair. My daughter has thick hair too. I used to brush it when she was younger but I eventually had to give that up and start combing it because using a brush was more of a “torture device” than a grooming product.
I have seen a product called The Wet Brush here and there. I never paid any mind to it because I cannot use a brush on my hair.
Recently I was asked if I wanted to review The Wet Brush. Initially I was against it, but curiosity got the best of me and I agreed to do the review.
I was sent a really nice green colored brush (green is my favorite color).
The Wet Brush can be used on both wet and dry hair.
The first time I used The Wet Brush was on wet hair. I had just stepped out of the shower. I cautiously stroked the brush through my hair worried that I would hit a snag and ripe out a wad of hair.
To my surprise I was able to comb my hair with The West Brush. I did get a couple of tangles but I was able to gently get the apart.
I have continued to use The Wet Brush every time I get out of the shower. For the most part I am able to brush my hair with no problem except or the occasional knot or tangle. I get the same when I use a wide tooth comb.
I have used the brush on both wet and dry hair. I prefer using it on wet hair. I find that when I use it when my hair is dry it makes my hair look “poofy” (for lack of a better description), especially around the ends. When I use it on dry hair I find that I need to use some kind of a product on my hair to smooth it out. I don’t have to do that when I comb my hair.
When my hair is wet I have no issues with the brush. It helps to get rid of knots and tangles, and when my hair dries it looks fine. It’s just using it on dry hair that I don’t like.
The Wet Brush is available in different sizes, colors and designs. It’s even available in mini versions which are great to keep in your purse, tote or backpack.

I like you have very thick hair and it is very long. I have never brushed my hair, I have always used a wide tooth comb. It would be interesting to give this wet brush a try.

I’ve seen this advertised and wondered if it actually works. Thanks for posting this, I might give it try because my hair gets knotted so easily.
