I love our pets greatly. They are very much members of our family. There is nothing I wouldn’t do for them.
Sadly a few of our pets have a few “quirks” that I don’t really care for. Take for example our oldest cat, Velcro. He tends to urinate on the carpet. Usually its around my desk or near the sliding glass doors. The vet doesn’t find a physical reason for him to be doing this. My husband and I are convinced he does it out of spite. We’ve even witnessed him urinating on our love seat!
He tends to do it at night. When we wake up in the morning we are greeted with a stain on the carpet. We do our best to clean it up immediately but often the stain remains. Eventually the carpet becomes riddled with urine stains that we have to drag out our big, bulky carpet cleaner. We hate having to do that especially when we only need to clean a few spots. The big carpet cleaner that we have is more so for overall cleaning. We usually use it 2-3 times a year on all the carpeting in our home. I don’t like using it for spots here and there.
We also get spots on the carpet when the cats throw up hairballs or un-chewed food. And our dog has had accidents from time to time. It makes me want to rip up the carpet and just get hardwood floors. But I really do like carpeting.
I was lucky to have the opportunity to participate in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Rug Doctor. They sent me a Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner to review. Yeah!!! I’ve been wanting to get a spot cleaner so this opportunity came at a perfect time.
The very first thing I noticed about the Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner the moment I opened up the box is it’s small, compact, portable size. It wasn’t a big, clunky, awkward vacuum like other carpet cleaners. This is a neat, compact unit that takes up little room in the closet and is super easy to set up and use.
The Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner even has a retractable handle which makes it super easy to move from room to room.
The Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner has two on board water tanks. One holds the clean water and solution and the other holds the dirty water. The hose wraps up nicely in the front and has a brush “head” to aid in cleaning up the stains. The power cord neatly coils up in the back of the device.
I couldn’t wait to use this on some existing stains we’ve been meaning to scrub.
I took a few photos of the stains but it’s hard to see them in the photos (they were more obvious to the naked eye). I circled where they were in the photos.
They were two different stains. It think the bottom one is a bit more visible.
Set up was a breeze. In just a few minutes my husband was ready to start scrubbing up those pesky stains on the carpet using the Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner.
We were able to clean up those nasty stains in a matter of a few minutes.
Unlike other carpet cleaners the carpet was not wet for long with the Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner. The carpet seemed to dry rather quickly.
What I love about the spot cleaner is that I don’t have to move furniture out of the way and avoid the carpet all day. I just have to clean the areas that need cleaning.
I love how easy the Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner is to use. Set up and clean up are a breeze. I love that it’s compact and takes up hardly any room in my bedroom closet. I can wheel it out of the closet whenever I need it compared to having to lug up a heavy carpet cleaner from the basement.
Since this is for spot cleaning you also don’t have to deal with large tanks of water.
I plan on using this to get some dirt spots off the arm of our couch. You could also use this to clean spots of stairs as well as the rugs in your vehicle.
I am very pleased with the over all performance of the Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner as well as it’s size. It’s perfect for my family’s needs.
You can purchase the Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner at Target as well as on the Rug Doctor website.
You can also check out some product videos on the Rug Doctor YouTube page.

Oh, naughty Velcro. lol I need this spot cleaner so much. I have pets that I love to pieces but, yes, hairballs, spit up, and drool leave spots all over the house. I’ve been looking at different types of products like this for awhile now. This one looks to be of quality and at a great price! Thank-you!
