When the temperature rises, what beverages do you reach for to cool off and quench your thirst? For some that might be a cold glass of water, soda or even a tropical cocktail. For many people they reach for a classic summer time beverage – iced tea.
I love iced tea. I enjoy it year round but summer time is my favorite time to enjoy a flavorful glass of iced tea.
Growing up my mom and grandmother would make iced tea by steeping a tea bags in a pitcher and adding a few slices of lemon. Sometimes they would mix in some sugar too. I actually prefer unsweetened iced tea.
When I was younger there was only one iced tea flavor. These days you can find an assortment of flavored teas that you can make just as easily as the ice tea my mom used to make.
The Salada name has long been synonymous with tea. After all, they have been making, and perfecting, tea for well over 100+ years. I remember my mom and grandmother using Salada tea bags, not only for hot tea but also for ice tea.
Salada also makes green teas in a variety of flavors. In fact they sent me a few packages to try out with my family.
I received the following teas from Salada;
- Salada Green Tea Iced Tea Family Size Peach & Nectarine
- Salada Green Tea Iced Tea Family Size Raspberry
- Salada Black for Iced Tea in Berry Patch flavor
My husband loves iced tea, but he’s not fond of green tea. I never told him that the Peach & Nectarine or Raspberry teas were green teas. All he knew was that they were flavored teas.
What I love about the family size teas is that they come is large tea bags. You need less tea bags because they are much larger than traditional size tea bags.
Green Tea is a healthy beverage choice. Green Tea is loaded with healthy antioxidants that your body needs.
Have you ever priced flavored water or even bottled iced tea at the local grocery store? Not only are they pricey ($1 – $2 per bottle), they are also loaded with sugar and other ingredients that you don’t need. By making your own flavored iced tea at home you can save a lot of money (it only cost pennies per serving) and you can control how much sugar to use, or in my case, none at all.
Iced tea is a much better choice than soda or juice boxes. It has zero calories and zero sugar (unless you add it) and it’s loaded with flavor. Most especially the flavored teas.
My favorite is the Raspberry. In fact we already used up the whole box of Raspberry. I couldn’t keep it long enough in my fridge. My kids would drink a whole pitcher of it by the end of the day.
For those of you who prefer black tea (like my hubby), Salada has a flavored black tea too. The one I received is Berry Patch flavor. Mmm… this tea is really good. It has a bit of a “kick” to it compared to the green teas. It’s very flavorful, even without adding any extra sweetners. My kids like this tea too but unlike the green tea they add a little sugar to their glass when drinking this tea. I think they find it a wee bit bitter compared to the green tea. For me, I welcome the “kick” of the Salada Black Berry Patch tea.
Salada also carries wellness teas for Metabolism, Digestive Support, Brain Boost, Bone Support, Immunity and/or Serenity. I have two teenagers… I could use that Serenity tea. 🙂
Making your own iced tea is so easy. Read the directions on the box for instructions, but you are certainly welcome to add more or less tea bags and/or water to suit your own needs. The only downside to making your own iced teas at home is that you either need a lot of ice to cool it down so you can drink it right away or you have to pop it in the fridge for a bit to cool down. I’m impatient. I want my tea right away. 🙂
These teas are specifically made to be iced tea. You could use them as hot tea but they might taste too strong. They are made strong to compensated for the melting ice. That way you tea is not “weak”.
I love also like the summery flavors. Raspberries are one of the fruits we buy and enjoy all summer long. The peach and nectarine blend is unlike anything I have ever come across before. I’ve had peach flavored tea, but not peach AND nectarine.
For those of you who prefer hot tea, you should try Red Rose Original blend. It’s a truly delicious and tasty tea. It’s perfect with a splash of lemon juice or if you prefer, with a little milk and sugar. You can’t go wrong with this tea.
The temperature might be hot, but that doesn’t stop me from enjoying a hot cup of tea. I find sitting on our balcony at night sipping a hot cup of tea to be very relaxing.
Red Rose also carries really unique teas – Cinnamon Streusel, Peach Cobbler, Crème Caramel and/or Lemon Chiffon in 20-count boxes and Vanilla Biscotti, Spiced Chai, Sweet Mint and/or Cinnamon Bun in single-serve cups. Mmmm…they sound delish!
Look for Salada teas and Red Rose tea where ever teas are sold.
