When it comes to the New Year, most people make resolutions for themselves, such as to eat healthy, exercise more, get out of debt or get a new job.
Resolutions are very “self centered.” They involve ways we are going to improve ourselves. But what about others? Do we ever resolve to do something for the special people in our lives? Resolve to spend more time with an elderly relative? Resolve to spend more quality time with your children? Resolve to have more “date nights” with a significant other?
I’m sure some do think of others, but how many people resolve to do things when it comes to their four-legged family members? That’s right, I’m talking about your pet. Have you ever resolved to do something involving your pet?
I make it a point to buy our pets gifts for the holiday season, but I never thought about them as far as resolutions are concerned. I’m not one to make resolutions to begin with.
Our pets are already well loved and taken care of, but I admit there is more we can do. For example, I could pledge to brush our cats more often. Two of our cats have a hard time keeping up with their hygiene. One is too old and the other is too overweight, to keep their fur clean. As a result they tend to get knots and mats. Then we have to struggle to get them out. If we made and effort to brush them more often they wouldn’t get the knots or mats.
As for our dog, I think we can make an effort to take him on longer walks. Sometimes the weather, or simply a long day at work, makes us take him on shorter walks. It’s not his fault we’re exhausted from work. He deserves a good, long walk to get enough exercise. We can all make an effort to do that (my husband, myself and our teens).
Purina wants to think about your favorite four-legged family member this year, and pledge to do something good for them in 2016 (and beyond). It can be something like more trips to the dog park, new toys, a new bed or going for walks in new neighborhoods for a change of scenery.
Purina wants to encourage every pet owner to make a Pet Pledge for 2016.
Taking the pledge is easy. Simply visit PureLoveForPets.com and share your pledge with Purina. While you’re on their site, play their instant-win game to win a prize box or our grand prize – all geared to help you keep that Pledge:
- Dog Prize Box – Dog Furminator, Kong toys, other dog-related accessories
- Dog Grand Prize – Deluxe Dog Crate
- Cat Prize Box– Cat Furminator, Kitty Hammock, toys, other cat-related accessories
- Cat Grand Prize – Deluxe Cat Tower
The instant-win game will run through Wednesday, February 17, 2016.
The PureLoveForPets.com website will feature information and tips on different Pet Pledges you can make and how to help keep them throughout the year.
In addition to taking the pledge and your chance to win great prizes, look for great Purina coupons in local Sunday newspapers TODAY (Sunday, Jan. 31st).
I took the pledge but I didn’t win. That’s OK. I will play again daily. You never know. Our five cats would LOVE that cat tree.
For more information about Purina, please visit Purina.com. Links to all of their social media pages can be found at the bottom of their website.
I hope you’ll consider making a pledge and entering the instant-win contest to win great prizes.
Will YOU be taking the pledge? What will you be pledging for your pet in 2016?
