Now available on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital is the full length feature film of the popular cartoon series, Bob’s Burgers. The film is appropriately titled The Bob’s Burgers Movie. This animated musical comedy-mystery-adventure based on the long-running, Emmy® award-winning series.
Bob’s Burgers, the series (12 seasons thus far) can be watched on different platforms, including Disney+.
Bob’s Burgers is about the crazy adventures of the Belcher family. The family consists of husband and wife, Bob and Linda, and their three children, Tina, Gene and Louise. The family owns and operates a hamburger restaurant and live above the restaurant.
I have heard of Bob’s Burgers before, but I honestly, I have never watched a single episode. I just never got around to. I find some of today’s cartoons to be a bit weird. Bob’s Burgers also does not seem to be a kiddy cartoon series, but rather something geared more towards teens and adults. I didn’t want to give the series Sanjay and Craig a chance, or Rick and Morty, but I did and my husband and I enjoy those series. So why not give Bob’s Burgers a chance too.
I knew I was going to be receiving a free screener in order to watch and review The Bob’s Burgers Movie, so I made it a point of watching a few episodes so that I could get familiar with the characters and the show. I found it amusing.
The Bob’s Burgers Movie takes the family on their greatest adventure yet, but they didn’t think they were going to have a crazy adventure initially.
After a ruptured water main creates a sinkhole in front of Bob’s Burgers and blocks the entrance, Bob and Linda Belcher struggle to keep the business afloat, and the kids try to solve a mystery that could save the restaurant.
I was a bit surprised to see that an animated film based on a short television series (I believe each episode is only about 20 minutes, after commercials). This film has a run time of an hour and forty-two minutes. How in the world could they stretch one story that long. To my surprise, they did. And they executed the storyline perfectly that it kept my attention from beginning to end.
There were a couple of songs in the film. I wasn’t really a fan of the musical parts, but there were only a couple, so it was fine.
This film has fun characters. Even the “carnies” had unique personalities and were fun to watch.
I like how this film has humor in it that only adults would understand. Sometimes it’s a bit “grown up,” but that is fine with me. To give you an example, one character asks the children why there weren’t in the building with a lot of books and grown ups (meaning a school). Gene replies “An adult book store?” Children and teens might not get that, but I did.
The animation was really good too. It might be only 2D, and not like a lot of animated films you see in theaters which are 3D, but it was still pretty decent.
After watching this film, and learning more about the Belcher family and the people who live in their neighborhood, I feel like I need to check out the series more often.
Look for it where ever movies are sold, as well as on streaming services.
There is A LOT of bonus content available with this film too.
