I love movies. I might not get to the theater as much as I’d like to, but I do enjoy watching movies on the premium channels on TV as well as on Blu-ray and DVD. I often joke with my husband that we should open up our own movie rental place. 🙂
I understand why some films go straight to Blu-ray/DVD – because they are not good enough to make it in theaters. I totally get that. But what I can’t understand is why studios will only show some films in limited markets? Another words, why show you film ONLY on one coast, or in one city or only in a few theaters speckled across the country.
There is a film that was a hit at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival that looks really good. Unfortunately it’s not going to be shown near me. It’s called The Kings of Summer.
Here is a brief synopsis of the film.
Sounds good, doesn’t it? Check out the trailer. It looks REALLY good.
I hope the film will be shown in more theaters as time goes on. This looks like the perfect “feel good” movie.
I think a lot of us can relate to the boys in the film, especially about wanting independence and to break away from our parents. I also grew up in the country and spent most of my summers playing in the woods behind my house and around where my cousins lived in Pennsylvania. We used to make forts and “houses” out of twigs and any material we could find around our parents home. It was a lot of fun. My best memories come from my summers growing up.
If you would like to learn more about the film, or see if its going to be playing in a theater near you, visit the official website www.TheKingsofSummerMovie.com. You can also check out the conversation on Twitter using the hashtag #KingsofSummer. The film also has a Facebook page.
What do you think of the film? Do you think it looks good?

I think it sounds like it would be a good movie too. I am very easy going with movies though I like most of the movies I see. It doesn’t take much to please me when it comes to movies.

It does sound like a good movie with a nice adventurous plot; it makes you want to go explore and be a bit more youthfully imaginative! I usually like most indie movies than the ones that are big budgeted box-office breaking ones (but it does depend on the premise). I too always wonder why certain movies are not able to be featured in more theaters; I know when I was living in a small town, I would always feel impatient to watch a certain movie because I would have to wait for it to be released on video/DVD because it was only playing in select major cities.
