Last week I posted about a wonderful movie called The Way, Way Back that is coming to theaters on July 5, 2013. I have only seen the trailer but I looks like a great summer movie. It’s also a “coming of age” type of movie. Usually those types of movies have females as the main character. In this film the teen coming of age is a young boy name Duncan.
The Way, Way Back is the funny and poignant coming of age story of 14-year-old Duncan’s (Liam James) summer vacation with his mother, Pam (Toni Collette), her overbearing boyfriend, Trent (Steve Carell), and his daughter, Steph (Zoe Levin). Having a rough time fitting in, the introverted Duncan finds an unexpected friend in gregarious Owen (Sam Rockwell), manager of the Water Wizz water park. Through his funny, clandestine friendship with Owen, Duncan slowly opens up to and begins to finally find his place in the world – all during a summer he will never forget.
The Way, Way Back is from the same studio that brought you 500 Days of Summer, Juno and Little Miss Sunshine. It’s written and directed by Nat Faxon and Jim Rash (co-writers of The Descendants) and stars an amazing ensemble cast including Allison Janney, AnnaSophia Robb, Sam Rockwell, Maya Rudolph and Liam James, Amanda Peet and Rob Corddry, as well as those mentioned above.
Here is the film’s trailer for your enjoyment.
You can also check out the film at it’s official website. You can also find the film on Facebook and follow on Twitter at @TheWayWayBack (#TheWayWayBack).
Look for a giveaway for The Way, Way Back next week. 🙂
So tell me, what do you think of the film? Is it something you think you will go and see this summer?

This sounds like a a good movie. I think it will be interesting to see it with a male lead. I think it looks like a movie my daughter would like. I usually enjoy these types of “coming of age” movies.
