I’m coming into the home stretch of my Scott Naturals Four Week Test Drive. My family has replaced our regular paper products with Scott Naturals paper products including napkins, toilet paper, paper towel and wipes.
Honestly it was an easy thing to do. My family hasn’t been inconvenienced. If anything the Scott Naturals products far exceed the products we were using before. For example the napkins. We don’t normally use paper napkins (we have fabric ones) but we do keep them on hand just in case. The ones we were using are so flimsy by comparison to the Scott Natural brand napkins. The Scott Natural napkins are thicker and much stronger then the cheap quality napkins we’ve been using up until now. For us it’s a “no brainer” that it makes better sense to use the better quality napkins that are also Earth friendly because they are made out of recycled fibers and virgin materials.
The purpose of the Scott Naturals Four Week Test Drive was to show consumers just how easy it is to help save trees and protect our environment. If everyone in the United States took the test drive it could have saved 2,000,000 trees. That is like an entire forest!
Here are some other interesting facts about how effective the Four Week Test Drive could be on our environment.
– If every family that owned the dog took the Four Week Test Drive it would have saved 31,884 trees.
– If every person in the US who has a Facebook account took the test drive 854,400 trees would be saved.
– If every American who went online TODAY took the test drive 783,200 trees would be spared.
Here are some other interesting “tree” facts that I found around the Internet.
– One large tree can provide a day’s supply of oxygen for up to four people.*
– There are over 23,000 different kinds of trees in the world.*
– A healthy tree can increase your property value by as much as 27 percent. Trees that are sick and not well taken care of decrease property value.*
– Every state has an official State Tree. We do not have a national tree, however, there is a campaign to have the oak adopted as our National Tree.* New York’s state tree is the Sugar Maple.
– Hundreds of food products (fruit, coffee, nuts, etc.) and food additives (for ice cream, chewing gum, etc.) come from trees.*
As you can see trees are a very valuable asset to our environment. Not only do we need them for the homes we live in, the fires that keep us warm and the paper that we use but we also need them for oxygen, food products, home for Earth’s creatures and for their shade and protection for the elements.
Please visit the Scott Naturals Four Week Test Drive page and take the pledge. It’s free to do and it will benefit your home state too. For every pledge your state gets closer to winning $50,000 that will be used towards conservation efforts. Currently it looks like New York is in the lead (yeah) but that doesn’t mean that your pledge and the pledge of family, friends, neighbors and co-workers can’t help put your state in the top spot. It’s free to make the pledge and it can make a huge impact.
I did some searching around the Internet and found some super adorable tree theme crafts too. These would be perfect for a rainy day, a lazy summer afternoon or even a classroom project for Arbor Day.
For more information about each craft, and instructions, please click on the photo to visit the lovely site where the craft is from. All copyrights belong to the site who created the craft. I’m simply sharing information about them with my readers.
While you are enjoying these crafts with your family it would be the perfect time to discuss trees and the importance trees have in our lives. You could use the crafts as part of a lesson about trees too. There are so many wonderful resources available where you could create your own personal “study guide”.
Another great family project would be to plant a tree. Talk to your local floral nursery and see what tree would work best in your yard. The whole family can get involved, including the youngest family members. You can teach your children how to nurture and care for the tree and each one could take turns watering it.
Trees are a beautiful and valuable asset in our lives. Be sure to take care of them as best as you can. Recycle, purchase recycled products and Earth friendly products (like Scott Naturals) and make sure to take the Four Week Test Drive pledge.
