I am a “mom” to six cats. I love my cat’s dearly. They mean the world to me. I sometimes think I like them more than my own children (ha ha, only kidding). There is nothing I wouldn’t do for our cats (or fish), and I only want what is best for them. Their health and happiness is a priority for me.
If you look around our home, you will see that there are spoiled cats that live here. There’s a huge cat tree, numerous pet beds, cat tunnels, cat houses, various activity “centers” and mats, as well as two toy boxes overflowing with toys. On any given day our home looks like a nursery school with toys every where. We don’t mind. We know it’s just our cats enjoying everything we offer them.
The things we use to feed our pets is also important. Take for example the porcelain plates we feed them their wet food on. We use plates because bowls actually hurt cat’s whiskers. At least that is what I read. Plus cat’s don’t like to eat out of deep bowls because it hinders their ability to see what is around them, and they don’t like that.

We’ve been using flat plates to feed our cats for years. We even fed our dog on a plate. Our kittens learned to eat wet food from a plate (it was easier for them), so naturally they are comfortable with a plate.
You can’t give your pet a plate of water. In order to have water, pets need bowls.
We have used a ceramic water bowl for our pets for years (inside). Outside we did have a plastic one, thinking it was weather resistant. What we didn’t know at the time is that plastic bowls can be easily scratched, therefore harboring deadly bacteria and germs inside the scratches. Plastic bowls can also leech harmful things into the water/food inside of them. Don’t believe me? Google it. Once I read all this I ditched the plastic bowl for another ceramic one.
I also read the best kind of bowl for your pet is one made of stainless steel. Stainless steel is scratch resistant and doesn’t leak any harmful things into your pets food or water. Stainless steel is heartier than ceramic or porcelain, and it’s lightweight. The only downside is that stainless steel bowls are plain looking, which is not that big of a deal for most people.
I was recently sent to review bowls from the brand Owala. Owala is well known for their reusable water bottles, but they also make water bowls for pets.

Owala’s pet bowls come in two sizes – 3 cup or 6 cup. They are made with stainless steel that’s built to last. They also have a non-slip base that makes lapping up water effortless, and a circular design that makes it easy to approach from any angle.
The bowls are also available in different colors, which I thought was really nice. They come in white, black, pink or turquoise.
I received the 3-cup sizes bowls for my cats. We have one inside and one outside, although it’s been too cold to go outside.
I love that it has a non-slip base. My cat’s have been known to pull the bowls around, especially two of them. For some odd reason they like to dip their paws into the water bowl and then lick their paws. I don’t think it’s because they want water that moves because we have a water fountain literally right next to the water bowl. I guess they do it because it’s fun?
We have a bowl and a fountain only because one of our cats is afraid to use the water fountain, and for some odd reason a few of our cats like to flip flop between the bowl and the fountain.
The bowls are very well constructed, and I think they are pretty to look at too. They are much nicer than a plain stainless steel bowl. They have a sleek, modern look to them as well.
I feel confident knowing that I am providing our cats with a healthier way to drink, and I like the non-slip factor and the pretty colors. It’s a win-win situation all around.
These bowls are also great for all animals, not just cats and dogs. These would work great for rabbits, lizards, hedgehogs and other critters.
They bowls might seem a bit pricey, but when you take all things into consideration, plus the fact that they will last for many years to come, the prices are not so bad. With ceramic bowls you might have to replace them often because they can chip, crack and break. Stainless steel is indestructible (unless you run the bowl over with a tractor trailer – ha ha).
