Available today on DVD is the newest addition to the Veggie Tales family of fun entertainment – Veggie Tales: Robin Good and His Not-So-Merry Men.
This DVD actually contains the main feature (Robin Good) and a shorter clip called Lenny’s Lost Birthday.
The short clip, Lenny’s Lost Birthday, is about Lenny and his birthday. Lenny wakes up on the morning of his birthday only to realize that no one seems to care it’s his birthday. Not his parents, his sister, his teacher or his classmates. Feeling like no one cares and that he’s no one special makes Lenny very sad. That is until his mother finally explains to him the real reason why no one wished him a “Happy Birthday”.
Following Lenny’s Lost Birthday is the main feature, Robin Good and His Not-So-Merry Men. This is similar to the classic tale, but with a Veggie Tale’s twist to it.
Robin Good and his not-so-merry men live in Sherwood Forest. Instead of robbing from the rich to give to the poor they push fundraisers on the rich in hopes of raising money for the poor. More specifically to buy hams for the poor.
Robin and his men have great intentions but it takes them many days just to raise enough money to buy one ham. So instead of fundraising his men want to steal from the rich. Robin Good wants no part of that so his men up and leave him.
Lost and alone in the forest Robin meets up with a giant who chases him into the protected village. There Robin meets the sheriff and the king. The king is very greedy and hoards all the hams in the kingdom for himself, leaving the villagers to starve.
Robin tries to reason with the king but the king doesn’t want to hear what Robin has to say. His men chase Robin from the village and he tosses the sherif into the dungeon of despair.
When Robin returns to the village he finds that his not-so-merry men were now prisoners of the king. To make matters worst a giant has made his way into the village and is reaping havoc.
Can Robin save the villagers from the Giant? Can he save his not-so-merry men and the sheriff who tried to help him? Will he ever find a way to bring ham to all the villagers? You’ll just have to pick up a copy of Veggie Tales: Robin Hood and His Not-S0-Merry Men, available now on DVD.
I love Veggie Tales. Not only are they adorable and funny but each episode always has a great lesson for young and old alike. This cute movie is no exception.
There are bonus features including an explanation why we have Leap Years. I was surprised by that. I honestly never knew the reason behind Leap Years, and now I do.
