It is COLD outside. It was in the 80’s here in New York a mere four days ago. Right now it’s noon and only 44 degrees. Brrrr! What a huge difference. It’s time to pack away the short sleeves and break out the sweat shirts and heavy coats.
When the weather outside gets “frightful,” I look for ways to keep warm – turning on the heat, snuggling up with a blanket and slippers. Another way I warm up is eating soup and drinking warm beverages. There is nothing better than warming up with a cup of hot chocolate.
I love hot chocolate. I can drink it year round, even in the “dog days” of summer. I think it’s because I love chocolate.
Whenever I made hot chocolate I always add marshmallows on top. Marshmallows and hot chocolate go hand and hand. Marshmallows are also great for s’mores, which is a popular treat year round. I miss sitting around a camp fire making s’mores. I haven’t done that is so many years.
I love marshmallows. I can eat them straight out of the bag. I also love things such as Rice Krispy treats (made with marshmallow) and the crunchy marshmallows that comes mixed with cereal.
Recently I was sent some marshmallows from the brand Creekside Mallow.
Creekside Mallow is a family-owned small business that makes gourmet marshmallows from scratch and s’mores-inspired treats. They even offer a complete s’mores kit with everything needed to make a campfire treat.
Creekside Mallow has a variety of different flavored marshmallows including caramel apple, birthday cake, cherry chip, cinnamon, huckleberry, cotton candy, orange, pecan turtle and more! Yes, these are actual marshmallow flavors. I’m so used to the run-of-the-mill plain old marshmallows. I can’t imagine enjoying marshmallows in such yummy sounding flavors.
Creekside Mallow sent me some of the marshmallows to try out for myself. I received to review their Peppermint Chip, Birthday Cake and Sugar Cookie flavored marshmallows.
I have no words to truly describe these marshmallows. Incredible, delicious, tasty, amazing – these are a few adjectives that come to mind.
First and foremost these marshmallows are fresh. You can see, feel and taste just how fresh these are. They are soft and fluffy, just the way I like them.
At first bite you can taste that these are not your typical marshmallows. These are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.
I love all of the flavors, but I must say, the Peppermint Chip is my favorite. That’s because it tastes like I’m eating a real candy cane. It’s soft and fluffy with the crunch of candy cane bits. At first bite I thought about taking a candy cane off our Christmas tree and enjoying it.
These don’t taste artificial at all. I don’t know what kind of magic they perform over at Creekside Mallow, but whatever it is, they’ve created the perfect marshmallows.
As I mentioned already, Creekside Mallow also sells s’mores kits. Their kits include a package of their marshmallows, individually wrapped packs of graham crackers and individually wrapped chocolate discs. All you need is the campfire. You can also make s’mores in your microwave too (that is how I make them).
A s’mores kit would be great to keep on hand to enjoy with family and friends any time of the year. I can image sitting by a fireplace watching the twinkling lights of a Christmas tree while making s’mores with my family. That sounds heavenly.
A product that brand offers that really stood out to me are their mallow toppers. Mallow toppers are marshmallow “toppers” for your cup of hot cocoa. They are ROUND which makes them fit perfect in your mug on top of your hot beverage. Instead of having marshmallows overflowing from you cup, the mallow toppers float perfectly on top and melt slowly into your beverage.
Mallow toppers are one of those “why didn’t anyone think of this sooner” type of product. Genius!
Mallow toppers are currently available in vanilla and peppermint flavors. Hot chocolate with a peppermint marshmallow topper is the perfect holiday drink.
As if their freshly made gourmet mallows weren’t enough, Creekside Mallow also offers their own line of hot chocolate mixes. After all, hot cocoa and marshmallows are the perfect pair.
Creekside Mallow hot chocolates are currently available in double chocolate, peppermint and s’mores flavors.
I love that their hot cocoa comes in tins. Growing up our hot chocolate came from a tin, not from a bag in a box. Their tins have a nostalgic feel to them (for me anyway).
The tins have an oval shaped opening, making it perfect for sticking your spoon inside and scooping it out.
As for the hot chocolate, I received all three flavors. They are all SO GOOD. My favorite is the double chocolate one. If you love chocolate like I do, you need to try their double chocolate hot chocolate mix.
Since receiving these to review, I have have been eating the marshmallows straight out of the bag. Who needs Halloween candy when I can enjoy a freshly made treat.
